My name is Sarah. I'm new here. From a little girl, I've always had a name list. It began because I used to like to write little short pieces of fiction and I liked to look up names and their meanings for my stories. After I stopped writing as often, I kept the lists, adding and deleting names over the years. I wish I kept copies to see how my list has changed over time.

What's frustrating to me now is that I used to like names that weren't so common. Now, lots of my favorite names are in the top 100 of the SSA list (ugh!) So I'm curious to get into this community more and see some new name ideas and keep on keepin on with my list. And no, I'm not pregnant (nor married) although i hope to have 3 kids someday.

Current top tens for boys and girls

Boys
1) Elijah (Eli)  or Elliot (Eli)
2) Liam
3) Theodore (Theo)

Hello! I saw this on the LJ spotlight and even though I don't plan on having kids any time soon, I am so looking forward to being a mum. Me and my boyfriend have been together for nearly five years and we've talked about marriage and children.

So, I see that a lot of people post the names of themselves, their partner and family etc so here's mine:

Mine: Gemma (Yeah, I don't get a middle name :( Used to make me really sad as a child so I gave myself the middle name Harley)
Partner: Daniel Mark

Mother: Wendy Jean
Father: Dean Robert

Mother "in law": Karen (Don't know her middle name.)
Father "in law": Mark (ditto)
(Obviously they're not my actual in laws yet lol)

Sister: Mandie
Nephew: Reece Hayden Dean (I adore his name, seriously, I love his middle names)

Obvioulsy Danny has been given his dad's name as a middle name and my nephew has had my dads name.

Here's a list of names I like for my future children:

Boys.
Jensen James
Alex
Ethan
Jim
Parker
Caleb

Girls.
Maddie Rose
Ariana
Alexa
Lilly
Miley
Evelyn
Ariadne
Genevieve

Jensen James and Maddie Rose are my favourites, thats why I already have middle names for those ones!

I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks :)

Hello!

Hey guys! My name's Rose. I've always loved thinking up names--I guess part of it probably has to do with the fact that I read and write a LOT. I know the meaning to most of my favorite names, mainly because if I find a name I really, I want to know what it means. I have some name combinations that I'd like to use if I ever have kids, but there are also some names that I like but would be more likely to give a character than a kid. I'll post some of both here.

KIDS
-Girls:
Aselin Tamara (Aselin means 'lioness'; Tamara is 'palm tree')
Brianne Rosalie (Brianne means 'high' or 'noble'; Rosalie means 'rose' or 'rose garden')
Esme Madeleine (Esme means 'esteemed'; Madeleine means 'Magdalene' or 'woman from Magdala)

-Boys:
Samuel Jonathan (Samuel means 'God heard"; Jonathan means 'gift of God')
Chase Gabriel (Chase means 'huntsman'; Gabriel means 'God's able-bodied one')
Gabriel Alexander (Alexander means 'man's defender')
Benjamin Carlisle (Benjamin means 'son of my right hand'; Carlisle means 'strong')

Favorite names in general:
Girls: Aselin, Brianne, Ava, Angelique, Charisse, Nicole, Colette, Isabelle, Clara, Gianna, Liliana, Nahla, Zoey, Alanna
Boys: Gabriel, Samuel, Alec, Evan, Liam, Peter, Michael, Elijah, Carlisle, Christopher, Raul, Alistair

Hey everyone! I'm new here and I truly believe some weird fate/destiny thing has gone on to get me here. Just last night I wrote another boy's name down in my little book and just today I told my friend about the new name. I'm actually only 17, but I've had this obsession with having this tiny little book of baby names that I've liked - a log of baby names as I've grown up if you will. I don't plan on having a baby soon but when (and if) I do and they're old enough or (hopefully if I'm still alive) when they have one of their own I'll pass this down.

Girls:
Amelia
Olive
Aubrey
Manning
Ebony
Kaya
Viola
Hero (thank you, Shakespeare for the above and this one!)

Boys:
Oliver (never Ollie or Olly, just Oliver)
August-James (either a double-barrel name or first and middle name - AJ for short)
Nikolai (pronounced Nick-o-lie, also has the nickname Kolya which I'm rather fond of, Russian origin)
Raynor (pronounced Ray-ner, Old-German origin)
Everett
Max

Thank you for letting me raid this beautiful comm!

overkill?

One of my students has a younger sister (who is 2 1/2) named Gabriella- his Mom just had a new baby boy and named him Gabriel.
I like both names separately but just keep thinking 'she must really love those names.'

Question:  Does anyone make name lists, according to different ethnicities you think you may end up having children with? I remember when I was younger, I'd make lists of names that I liked from different countries because where I'm from I grew up with so many friends from different countries, so it made sense at the time, am I the only one??

feel free to list them too!

With all the new users here in the community, I thought it would be a good time to find some new name material and to do so by listing the names of our children, or for those of you who are not parents, list your favorite names!

....more specifically boys' name starting with 'T' that go well with the name Tristan.

Hello fellow names enthusiasts! My name is Hali (pronounced "Hail-ee"). I think my love for names and their meanings stems from the journey I took finding out the meaning of the unusual spelling of my own name.

When I was younger, I used to make up names and keep a journal of them. But I wouldn't stop at first and middle names...I'd often make up/combine last names, too (not to mention brief biographies and pencil-sketched pictures of them). I think this comes from the fact that I've always been a writer and loved creating and developing characters. Did anyone else do this?

My younger brother just found out he is having a boy! Him & his girlfriend are having a hard time picking out a name that they both like. So far a few of the names that they have both liked are Jace, Bennett, Aiden, & Rylan. They don't care about the popularity of the name. What are some other names I could suggest to them? Thanks for the help!
