Hey guys! My name's Rose. I've always loved thinking up names--I guess part of it probably has to do with the fact that I read and write a LOT. I know the meaning to most of my favorite names, mainly because if I find a name I really, I want to know what it means. I have some name combinations that I'd like to use if I ever have kids, but there are also some names that I like but would be more likely to give a character than a kid. I'll post some of both here.

KIDS
-Girls:
Aselin Tamara (Aselin means 'lioness'; Tamara is 'palm tree')
Brianne Rosalie (Brianne means 'high' or 'noble'; Rosalie means 'rose' or 'rose garden')
Esme Madeleine (Esme means 'esteemed'; Madeleine means 'Magdalene' or 'woman from Magdala)

-Boys:
Samuel Jonathan (Samuel means 'God heard"; Jonathan means 'gift of God')
Chase Gabriel (Chase means 'huntsman'; Gabriel means 'God's able-bodied one')
Gabriel Alexander (Alexander means 'man's defender')
Benjamin Carlisle (Benjamin means 'son of my right hand'; Carlisle means 'strong')

Favorite names in general:
Girls: Aselin, Brianne, Ava, Angelique, Charisse, Nicole, Colette, Isabelle, Clara, Gianna, Liliana, Nahla, Zoey, Alanna
Boys: Gabriel, Samuel, Alec, Evan, Liam, Peter, Michael, Elijah, Carlisle, Christopher, Raul, Alistair

My names addiction started the same way! I would always look up names and their meanings to create characters to put in my stories. And here I am, lol.

I love Aselin, Gabriel, Liam, Elijah, and Raul.

I don't like Brianne or Chase and they both don't seem to fit with the others, to me.

I like Chase. Simply because Dr. Chase is sexy.

Also, Twilight ♥

Girls:
Aselin -Don't take this personally, but how the heck are you pronouncing this and where on earth did you get that it means 'lioness'? No offense, but I've been into anthroponomastics for years and that sounds like bs.

Brianne -I used to want to use this. Far better than Brianna or Breanne.

Ava -Overused, but not a bad name.

Angelique -Not my style, but again, nothing wrong with the name. I like that it's fancy, but could have everyday short forms.

Charisse -Sounds a bit ghetto to me.

Nicole -This one was "done to death" during the 80s and 90s. Unless it was used to honor someone, I wouldn't use it.

Colette -not my style.

Isabelle -very, very popular, but still a very classy name.

Clara -Love, love. It's classy and cute all in one and would age nicely.

Gianna -I love how this feels when you say it and it sounds nice.

Liliana -Very nice.

Nahla -If you don't people thinking of Nala from The Lion King, this is a nice name and it looks pretty.

Zoey -This is a name a lot of people seem to like, but not a lot of people seem to use. It's cool, I guess, but I prefer the traditional Zoe spelling.

Alanna -not my style

Boys:

Gabriel -classy and timeless

Samuel -same, but I like Gabriel more.

Alec -prefer Alex, but I like both only as short forms of fuller names.

Evan -not my style, but I love Eben.

Liam -cute if short for William, but I'm not a fan of it by itself.

Peter -I used to dislike this name, but I recently fell in love with a co-workers adorable son named this and now it's really growing on me.

Michael -timeless, lovely.

Elijah -also very lovely.

Carlisle -nice, like it.

Christopher -Can't explain why I don't like this one, but I've never cared for it.

Raul -not my style

Alistair -loved this one for years. :)

My guess is it was found on some baby name site that put it down as a female variation of Aslan, as in the lion from Chronicles of Narnia.

That's a tragedy. Made up name with a name up meaning.
Never trust a baby naming book!

I don't know if it really means "lioness" or not, but Aselin is a legit name that I've known of or heard of on at least 5 women of various ages, including the singer Aselin Debison.

I've only ever heard it said "AZ-eh-lynn".

I'm not sure if that necessarily makes it a legitimate name. I've known four Braelyn's (with various spellings), but I would still argue that name is a complete mess and means nothing.

I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm just saying I'm not convinced that makes it legit. I guess that doesn't make it a name some people like less. Just name nerds like me.

I forgot about Aseline Debison though.

The only ones I really like are Benjamin, Liam (although I prefer it as a nn for William), and Alistair.
