I was just playing with Nymbler to see if I could find any new names that I liked. Well, one that I got was Madden for a boy. WDYT? I don't know what I think about it, but I've never heard of it (as a name, anyways).

Since my fiance and I are planning on starting a family in the next few years, we have a list of names. I've gotten mixed opinions on all, of course. since everyone has different tastes.

Boys combos:
Jameson Hollis
Brighton Hart (though middle name isn't set in stone)

Girls combos:
Claudia Lilith
Scarlet Grace

I'm not sure how realistic Scarlet is, as we already know a couple with a daughter named Scarlet Olivia.

Girls (no combos to attatch them to as of yet:
Cecilia
Lorelei
Persephone (per-sef-own, yes, I know it's actually Per-sef-own-nee)
Emma (not sure if I'd actually use this, too used.)
Rowan

Boys (no combos):
Baxter
Caspian
Hilary
Emery
Holden
Sampson
Satchel

Given that I am utterly without religion, my current obsession with Virtue names may seem a little weird. Verity was one of my favorite names before I actually realized it was a Virtue name (I found it in a Miss Marple story when I was a kid). Anyway, below are the VIrtue names that I would use. Suggestions for middle names would be greatly appreciated. Also, nick name suggestions if any come to mind. Thanks!

Verity
Sage
Providence
Fate
Ever
Clarity
Wisdom
Creedence (Creed)
Just
Justice
Mercy

My great grandmother was Ernestine Clementine Justice. She HATED Clementine so much she changed it to Caroline. I like the meaning, but the first thing I think of when I hear the name is the song, Oh my darling Clementine. There is also Clemency and Clemence, but I'm not sure how I feel about those.

Evanescence is a complete guilty pleasure. I love the meaning, Evan is a great nn, but then there is the band....which is the first thing most people with think of....and I've discovered that most people don't realize its a word.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Opinions on the name Slade? I've seen it around a couple of times and hated it at first, but now I kind of like it. The only thing is, the baby will have a one-syllable last name, so a one-syllable first name may sound awkward. Slade Ball (Ball is my last name) - yes/no?

Eitan

I guess its close to the "Aiden" pronunciation. Some guy in my neighborhood and his girlfriend just named their new baby this. Personally, it makes me go wtf.

Also, does anyone know if Valerie used to be a common male name?  I feel like I've met a French guys in the past named Valerie (pron Val-E-ree) but I wonder if I am making it up...

I know a man named Mike. Today, he told me that he has four brothers named Bob, Sam, Joe, and Ed.....BUT these are NOT nicknames for Michael, Robert, Samuel, Joesph and Edward. His last name is Thomas, so their legal names are: Mike Thomas, Bob Thomas, Sam Thomas, Joe Thomas, and Ed Thomas

He explained to me that his mom wanted to give all the children the most simple, basic, normal names, and since everyone (with these particular names) always go by the short form, then why bother using the full name?

WDYT?

My first day of teaching for the year – and now I’m exhausted! (But that was also partially due to the mouse crawling in my kitchen last night and me getting no sleep… watch your back little mousie!)

Also, my cousin recently had her fifth child, a son - Rohan. He is the brother of Emily, Natalie and James (twins) and Lincoln. WDYT? I was a little bleh with Lincoln, but I really like Rohan. They decided on that over Rowan or Roan because they liked the way it looked with their last name.

So I decided to check the family tree for unusual names and boy did I find some.

Now our family tree goes all the way back to 1600 so these are all pretty old.
These are all names from my grandfather's side of the family. No middle names were displayed unfortunately.

Pelagia
Nicasia
Ermengild
Orsalina
