Eitan

I guess its close to the "Aiden" pronunciation. Some guy in my neighborhood and his girlfriend just named their new baby this. Personally, it makes me go wtf.

Is that like a hybrid of Aedan and Ethan?

It reminds me of Ethan. So is it pronounced E-tan or I-tan?

This doesn't seem that odd to me. I gather it is Hebrew from the posts above, but my first thought was that it is similar to Elian, like the little boy (Elian Gonzalez) who was returned to Cuba a few years back. The picture of him being taken away at gun point still haunts me - he looks so terrified.

It's Hebrew. It's NOT a kr8tyve combination of Aiden and Ethan! It's a real name! It's pronounced AY-tawn.

I don't think it's a bad name, except for the having to say "no, not Ethan" or "no, not Aidan" all the time.

totally a real name as mentioned above. I knew a pediatrician with this name. he had an accent, not sure from where... in any case, I agree that it sounds confusing/made up what with the popularity of both Aidan and Ethan.

I kind of like it though. more so than I like either of the others since it combines the sounds I like from both.

It was probably an Israeli accent. Eitan is a really popular name in Israel. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's probably where the name Ethan came from.

Eh. I don't really like it. Nor do I like Aiden, though. :O

It's a great name. Ditto on the Ey-tahn.

Great name, it's the Hebrew version of Ethan.

Just my opinion but before I go WTF to a name I look it up online to make sure it's not a real name from another culture; I wouldn't want to sound ignorant about someone's ethnicity or cultural traditions. (I am not picking on you. I just thought this post would be a good place to mention it because I've seen this a lot here when it comes to names from other cultures. Saying WTF is not a big deal but I've heard a lot of ethnic or cultural names made fun of and I don't like that. Just saying, in the hope that everyone keeps it in mind...)
