Here are some doozies  I came across today:

Kelleigh

and

Skorpio

Also, does anyone know if Valerie used to be a common male name?  I feel like I've met a French guys in the past named Valerie (pron Val-E-ree) but I wonder if I am making it up...

Valère is a french name. It's pronounced Vahl-air. Maybe you're confusing it with that.

Kelleigh and Skorpio are the worst!!

Skorpio - son of a Harry Potter fan, I'd bet money on it. It's the next gen Malfoy from the epilogue (although JKRowling spelt it with a C I think, the way it's meant to be, but never underestimate the power of the random K or Y to appear in kids names)

Oh God that makes it even worse lol.

I bet over the next couple of years there's a whole rash of Scorpios being born though. And they will grow up to hate Harry Potter (and their parents) with a deep and burning hatred.

I knew a Galadrial at university. She had a brother as well. Might have been Celeborn, could have been Elrond or Thranduil though I just remember it was a) another elf and b) hideous.

Unfortunately there's an awful lot of batshit insane die hard fans though. I'd like to think they'll be sticking to Harry and Hermione and any of the other names but I'm expecting Scorpius (yes got it wrong earlier, I just checked), and Luna and Albus Severus. I wouldn't mind a few Ginevras since it's quite pretty and actually only the die hards would get it anyway.

I can't remember if it comes out in the books (would be book 5 I think if it does) or if Rowling said it elsewhere. I used to write fic and I remember being irritated when it came out because I'd been calling her Virginia lol. So I know it was around the time of Order of the Phoenix.

But the Lexicon might say where it was referenced. Not geeky enough to have it bookmarked but if you google Harry Potter Lexicon it'll come up.

It's at Fleur and Bill's wedding. Her great-aunt or something calls her that.

Probably spelt Valery as in the former President of France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Val%C3%A9ry_Giscard_d'Estaing)

Kelleigh I don't mind so much (I believe the name roots from Ceallach or Ceallaigh anyways), but Skorpio makes my head hurt.

I think it was probably either Valery (as joereaves already said) or a nickname for the name Valerian.

Haha, my icon has raised a few questions in its time. My icon is a cropped picture of myself, it's the top of my head (while I am wearing a snood).

Yep. And also like Valere/Valerie/etc., which means "to be strong." I like that meaning, and I really like plant/flower names, so it's one of my top boy names.

Hubby only vetoed it because he hates the nickname "Val" on a boy. I wonder if I can get him to un-veto it if we think of a different nickname, or I promise to always use Valerian in full. Hmmm.

I like Ian a lot, thank you! I was thinking Ryan might work, though it's a bit of a stretch. I'll have to bring it up with Hubby when he gets home from work.

Ahhhh, I have seen Kelleigh before. I'm a Kelli, and having an I at the end of my name seems to be more than enough to throw people off.
