My little sister just had her big annual dance recital. Here are the names from the program. I've tried to create peer groups, but tried to have each student appear only once. In other words, my sister, Sarah A., was in four routines, but only appears on this list once, and though she may not have danced with Joanna A., people that she danced with danced with her, so they're all together. Ish. ( Cut for length )

 I met up with a bunch of kids the other day and was suprised at how many had surnames as first names! What are your opinions on this naming trend? Like/dislike? What are some surnames you like as firstnames? Below are a list of the kids I was with

Baker
Parker - I actually don't mind this. I once liked it for a girl though.
Luke (lol there is a rugby player called 'Isaac Luke' so I figured it could count as a lastname!)

Williams (yes, with the 's' on the end)

My favourite surnames as firstames are: Robinson, Addison and Ryan

I work at Dairy Queen, and we write things on cakes for people if they wish. There were a couple names that we had which struck me as different, or not heard of very often:

Shyla (which I think is kind of cute)
Nola (I like this one, even though it reminds me of Nolan, which is not a favorite of mine).
Gill (pronounced like Jill. I know that Gillian is a way of spelling Jillian, but it just looks odd to me, and I had never met/heard of anyone named that prior).

How do you pronounce this name? It's my neighbor's 4-year-old son's name. He goes by Mac. I babysit for him and his older brother Will sometimes - they're adorable.

I'm not sure if it's MACK-lee-en (which is my fave) or MICK-lane or MICK-leen. What do you think it is?

Hate the middle name.  

*The article I read this morning did not indicate that the middle name was in honor of the dad's mom. I don't follow the lives of these folks so I had no idea the middle name was in honor of grandma. That being said....I still don't like Doreen. I've glad it as meaning for them...but i still don't like it, sorry.
