[identity profile] queenb833.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I had posted a baby name list in here last week with my sister's choices for her next baby and a few other random names and it seems like almost everyone who voted (except a few) didn't like the names CHELSEA or MOLLY

WDYT?? Why do you like or dislike the names??

I think Molly is really cute! However, I wouldn't use it for my daughter beause the name reminds me so much of the American Girl doll.

I don't like Chelsea, perhaps because it was very popular in my area during the 90's and seems a bit dated now. I am also reminded of Chelsea Clinton.

I like Molly.

Chelsea makes me think of the football team in England. And that doesn't really make me happy as I'm not a fan.

I like them both. Chelsea, any dorky, pre-makeover Miss Clinton associations aside, seems classy and elegant to me, and Molly sounds very sweet and friendly. Of the two, I suppose I slightly lean toward Chelsea, but they're both lovely.

I can't remember whether your last post was the same post that I wrote this, but either way, I think that Molly sounds like a dog's name. I don't even know any dogs with that name, but that is just what it sounds like to me. I think it's ugly.

I am also not a fan of Chelsea. Maybe it's just because of the one Chelsea that I know, but I don't like the sound of it or how it looks.

Molly is awesome. Chelsea, on the other hand, is a trendy hold over of the 80s, sounds really dated, and I have a hard time picturing it on an adult.

I kind of like Chelsea, I dislike Molly. Molly is a cute name for a dog or a little kid, but I'd have a hard time taking a grown-up human Molly seriously. Chelsea was really trendy during the 80s/90s so I guess some people might think it's too common, although it's a fairly uncommonly used name now.

Chelsea seems very dated. Molly is okay, but seems very informal. It also seems to be one of the token names that people use whenever they want to be quirky-cute-old-fashioned.

I like the sound of both, but I think Chelsea is becoming very dated very fast, and Molly looks like its way to being too "trendy" as well.

I think they are both dated.

I LOVE Molly. Chelsea is okay but not bad... there's just nothing special about it; it's very ordinary.

I don't think Molly ages very well.

I don't mind Chelsea though. I think it's pretty nice. It was my dog's name before I changed my mind.

Molly sounds too nickname-ey. If the full name was something different, say Amala, and you called her Molly, that'd be another story.

I love Chelsea, but it keeps reminding me of Chelsea Clinton, and I'm a Clinton h8r.

I can't see anything to possibly like about Molly. I don't like the sound of the name for one thing, it seems a bit babyish and not like a complete mature adult name, and it sounds like a character out of an Enid Blyton book (which isn't actually bad - it just sounds very old-fashioned). I like some old-fashioned names but Molly just doesn't do it for me. I get two very different pictures for the name - a frilly porcelain doll, and also somebody with a slow drawl chewing hay in a cow paddock.

Chelsea is fine by me. I have only met one in my life and didn't get along well with her, but I don't have a problem with the name. I suppose it's a little bit cutesy but not too bad.

I dislike the names because of people I know with those names- that's the main reason that I dislike any name, really.
