calls to mind an elderly Russian woman.

I love that name. One of my friends from high school is named Liliana...always forgot to tell her I loved her name. She's Hispanic, and I like how that name is common in Latin American countries, Italy...apparently Russia.

its a little over the top for me, as i prefer lily, and after that, lillian. but its certainly not bad.

This is my step-daughter's name. Except she spells it Lilyahna.

I think it's prettier as "Lilyana".

That changes the pronunciation of the name and Lilyana looks tacky.

How does it change the pronounciation?

Lilyana (and Lilyahna) are both pronounced Lily-ah-na.

Isn't Liliana prounced the same?

It's pretty, but (like a lot of names I like) sounds a little bit pretentious. Unless you say it with an obnoxious mid-Western accent (lily-ann-uh), I can't really conceive saying "I'm Liliana" without sounding snobby... that's why I've had to cut several names off my list.

It's on my list as a mn to honour my mother (her fn means lily, and her mn is Ann); I'm more into shorter less frilly fns for myself, but it's great either way for someone else.

I think Liliana is a bit over the top. Lily Christine is prettier, IMO.

It's pretty if you're OK with your daughter being one of five "Lily"s in her class... Lily/Lillian etc are super trendy right now. I like Christine as a middle name though

I like Lily. I like Lillian. Liliana is just too frilly for me. It seems overdone.

I don't like it. It's too frilly. It makes me think, "They think they're not good enough for just Lillian?" even though I know it may be a cultural thing.

I like Liliana... I don't like Christine, but I actually don't like any name that ends with "een", so as far as -ine names go, Christine isn't too bad.

I love Liliana, but not Christine. I just recently tried talking my partner into Liliana.
