First off, I enjoy rather unusual names with obscure references which shall probably become evident quite soon ;)

So for boys' names, I'm pretty much set on

Alaric Edmund
Nicodemus Felix
Jude Evander or maybe Evander Jude

For girls, my top few are

Stelmaria
Jocasta
Ursula
Elanor

-but I don't know how to combine them, none of them sound good together, are there any middle name or combo suggestions for these?

And finally, are they too out-there? Are there any immediate and/or negative connotations that stand out?

Some more (local) birth announcements. Just a few here.

My nieces are Lily (Lillian Catherine) and Rose (Rosaleigh Aurora Louise). I just saw the Sex and the City movie, and Lily and Rose were names used in that movie too! Back when the girls' mother was pregnant, they talked about flower names-my cousin wanted Magnolia/Maggie. I pushed for Laurel or Violet, but no one listens to me. :P Anyways, I was just curious as to what everyone thought of these flower/plant names:

ETA: "Iis" in the poll is a typo-meant to be IRIS.

ok since oliver is out of the running (so sad) because the boy really dislikes it, i have had an extremely difficult time finding another boys name that i love as much. so far, i havent had any luck falling in love with anything else.

however, i really like the nickname nate.

what do you guys think, nathan or nathaniel? i am leaning toward nathaniel, because it sounds best with the middle name, which will be john. i also think it sounds classier and less nerdy. but my ex's name is daniel, who is a very very bad man. that -niel relation just popped into my head.

what say you?

My son, Easton, just learned that I was pregnant.

His ideas:
If it is a boy, it should be Thomas... after Thomas the Tank Engine.
If it is a girl, it should be Dora... like Dora the Explorer.

Jeez:)

I just thought I'd post the names of a few kids I heard while in the Disney store today. Madeline. I don't know how it was spelled or anythin' else about it. All I know is that's what the child's name was. Also, there was a girl named Mary-Kate there too. Natalie, Andrea and Patty were the names of the people who worked there. WDET? I LOVE the name Madeline, but spelled Madelin.

I'm going to put this behind a cut.... but here are the top 10 names from the last 11 decades! (as in, 2007, 1997, 1987, 1977, 1967, 1957, 1947, 1937, 1927, 1917 and 1907).

Which decade's names do you like the best? Which do you like the least? :) For interest's sake, let us know which decade you were born in too.

Here they are... )

I was just thinking about Ferris Bueller's Day Off today, and how it has some pretty interesting names. So:

Ferris
Sloane

Opinions?

An earlier post got me thinking...have you ever made up a name?

Post any of your previous creations or make up some new ones (names that you at least like something about even if you'd never use them).
