[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

An earlier post got me thinking...have you ever made up a name?

Post any of your previous creations or make up some new ones (names that you at least like something about even if you'd never use them).

Greazure (don't know how to make accent marks in here, but its pn Grey-Azure...or if you're 13 like I was when I came up with it try it with a faux French accent:)

Gremorrow (again, there's and accent mark in there and its pn Grey Morrow)

Eveille (Its Reveille without the R...pn kind of like Emily with a V)

Elexander (its from a Mark Twain book) which I bastardized into Elecandre

Kylenne (There are probably kids with this name now... it looks trendy.)
Kella (Kelly + Ella?)

I kind of like Eveille!

Well, for whatever reason I've always wanted to name my children after my friends, but not directly. My best friends' names are: Joseph Evan (goes by Evan), Daniel Lee, Kylie Lenore, and Leah Frances.
Some of the more sleep deprivation-induced creations:
Lealie (Leah+Kylie), Aevana (this is so bad, Evan attends AA meetings), Evaniel (idk if it'd me a boy or girl's name), Kylenore, Leances, Josevan, Ielan (the last halves of Daniel and Evan), etc.

Depending on how it's pronounced...I actually kind of like Lealie.

In my head, it's always been "lee-ah-lye". I suppose it could be "leel-ee"

I made up Shasilla when I was about 7 or 8.... ewwww!

My brother made up Rajella... he got it by saying "red yellow red yellow" really fast lol

I remember when I was about 13 having fun one day making up a bunch of really random names, but the only one I can remember is Ara. It probably is a name though.

Oh! You know the game Guess Who? Where you have a board with all these little people and you have to guess who the other person has etc. I made my own version of that once and I made up all kinds of crazy names for my people. But they were meant to sound bad.

The ones I can remember are.... Mikeney, Tirade, Penetrazia, Helmutt, Murgatroid(but I didn't make that one up- it was what my dad threatened to call me whenever I was little and said i hated my name lol).... I will think of more later maybe

I was really into Ashlynn when I was younger and I thought I made it up, but as it would turn out, THAT'S REAL. lmao.

I also had a set of twins in a story I wrote named Denim and Lace, which I think should count as making up a name.

I used to joke about naming my kids after weird rivers we drove past on family road trips, which isn't really the same thing, but some fun examples include Humptulips and Skookumchuck.

My dad and I also used to joke about using punctuation besides apostrophes in names, and our example was always Sam?Lisa!, as one name with inflection. I don't know why we couldn't come up with either two male names or two female names to run together.

When I was a teenager, I wrote down every name that I liked. I had PAGES AND PAGES of names and why I liked them. Then they got dull, and I thought, "Why don't I get kre8tiv and just replace one syllable/letter of a normal name with something else?"

So if I didn't really like the name Vanessa, for instance, I might turn it into Lanessa. I did this with a ton of names, and I don't have the list anymore, unfortunately. I'm sure it would have brought on all sorts of lulz, but at the time, I thought it was so amazing and unique. Thank God I was not a teenage mom.

When I was really little, my first Barbie doll was named something pronounced, "uh-FLO-puh", which I'm now imagining to be spelled Ophlopa maybe, haha that's awkward looking, but I was only two or so.

My sister's first Barbie was named Xey, I guess, "EX-ee".

Those aren't names I would consider pretty at this point in my life, so I'm not sure they count, but I thought it was a cute story I guess, heh.

Incidentally all my other dolls had really normal names, Erica and Emily for example.

For awhile I liked the idea of using foreign words with really mundane meanings as names... the one I remember is Avion, which is French/Spanish for "airplane".

My alter ego is not exactly "made up," but it's pretty out-there: Daphne Greensleeves.

I named a character in a story I wrote at 12 "Syrilithica." Another character in the story was Ane, pronounced like Anne.

For a long time I thought that Steve was short for Steveodore, lol, and I used that as a name as well.

Oh, also, I kind of like Gremorrow... not in a way I would actually name a child that, but if I met a kid with that name, I would be really impressed by the parents.

My mom was joking around and came up with the name Jaomi (pn like Naomi but with a J)...and I actually liked it for awhile.

Recently I came up with the name Kitlin somehow. I kind of like the sound of it, but I'd never use it because it sounds so made up.

Oh, and I once had a babydoll named Grosha (pn like Tasha, but with a Gr). Not too sure where I came up with that one, but...I was only a toddler when I named her, so...I think I deserve forgiveness on that one. On a similar note, when I was little I had imaginary friends named Paco, Bink, and Sunshine.

When I was little and pretended I had an identical twin, I called her Dashleigh, because I was still at the stage where I thought twins always had to have matchy-names.

I quite like a mixture of my names: Ashbeth.

For a fictional character I kre8vised: Nykolaa Jayne.
