It has been a while for most of us and we seem to have new folks (YAY!), so is anyone interested in sharing their name lists? Mine is huge, but I'm working on sorting out names I would use on children from names I just like but may not give to my future children (most fall in this catagory; I promise not to name a child Bellamorte), but I'll put it under the cut anyway (I collect via the alphabet game). I'd love to see everyone's lists and its a great way for new members to jump on in!

May Isabel. Thoughts? I like Isabel a lot, but wouldn't use it as a first name, due to popularity. It's also one of the only names I can think of that sounds good paired with May.

Jane. Too plain? If I ever had a daughter and named her this, it would be after Jane Austen and one of my favourite Jane Austen characters. I'm thinking about just using it as a middle name, though. It works well with pretty much all of my favourite names, too. I'm thinking especially:

Camilla Jane
Norah Jane
Theodora Jane

Edit: Also, I've really been loving the name Constanza lately. I probably wouldn't use it, but I love it.

my picks.

My husband and I cannot agree on any names. I am 12 weeks and I know I've got a ton of time to pick a name. But, what I'm thinking is.... why not agree on a list of names, then when s/he is born, then pick out of the list?

The only name we have solidly agreed on so far is Azalea. It's a flower, and I think it's pretty, and unique.

My other picks are:

Audriana/Adriana (after his mom)
Stella
Erin
(I can't seem to find the rest of my list, I will post that later)

and for a boy, I picked:
Jason

that's it. Majority of them are female names, because I am convinced (yes at 12 weeks) that I am having a girl. But, we'll see. :)

Aside from naming babies after family members or close friends whose passed on, I can't imagine saying this WILL be my child's name no matter what. For instance, if you are dead set on the name James, and your SO's last name is James, you might have a problem. Or if you are dead set on the name Mary, but your SO was abused by a Mary and so on.

As much as I love talking and thinking about baby names, I know that it is going to be a whole different story when I am pregnant and discussing names with my SO (and probably to a much lesser extent, my family). I am not saying is is bad to really love certain names and be "set" on a few I am just wondering about the practicality and process of actually naming your child that name.

I am curious if anyone on this blog picked a name as a child or teen, stuck with it through adulthood and pregnancy and named their child against their partner's will, as several people stated they would in response to a post from a few days ago.

I love the name Peyton for a girl. It is, by far, my favorite name.

However, I am having issues of finding a boys name that doesn't match it too much....since I tend to like a lot of names for both sexes that end in n and are 2 syllables

So would Peyton having a brother with a name like Nathan, Eamon, Justin or Gavin be too much?

Or should I avoid two syllable n ending names if I do use Peyton. I an not in love with any of my boys names but love Peyton

I am suddenly in love with the name Dexter, nickname Dex.

My husband and I are currently in the "John war" - he loves the name John and I haaaaate it.

Dexter John is my suggestion. It's a family name - my grandmother's maiden name.

I think it could go either way. If my son is a total dork - Dexter could be a liability but I think it would be a REALLY 'cool' name otherwise.

What do u think?

Girls...
Audrey Colleen (FAV)
Mary Brenna
Rebecca
Megan
Lauren
Sabrina

Boys...
James Burke
Ivan James
Benjamin

Pretty obvious that I lean to more classic baby names. Feel free to make some suggestions for boys. I'm pretty set on Audrey Colleen for a girl though. Its the only girl name that I have suggested that my hubby likes. I'm always open for more ideas though.

So one of my favorite shows today is Jon and Kate Plus 8, which is a reality show about a family of 10. The parents have a set of twin girls (age 7) and a sextuplets (3 girls, 3 boys - age 3) and their household is outrageous. I don't know how they keep it together. Anyway, I thought I'd post all of the kids names:

Twins
Cara Nicole
Madelyn Kate

Sextuplets
Alexis Faith
Hannah Joy
Leah Hope
Aaden Jonathan
Collin Thomas
Joel Kevin

Personally, I dislike all the names except Cara, Kate, and Hannah. The others I could do without.

List your top ten favorite names (first and middle) for girls! Then go to the social security website HERE and find the rank for each name for 2006 in the top 1000. Then translate your names by making them comply with the following years.

1. 1897
2. 1992
3. 1944
4. 1926
5. 1881
6. 1986
7. 1904
8. 1979
9. 1913
10. 1965

Example, my name is Catherine (#122 in 2006) Mary (#84) so Catherine Mary for 1897 translates to Ora Virginia. If your name isn't listed, try to find the closest spelling.

Get it?

Boys to follow.
