Alexa has been on my mind lately...but i have one problem with it.

I have 2 friends named Alexis

One has been a friend since we were little. I don't talk to her often but we try to get together on occasion. I'm sure we will stay in touch for our whole lives....so she def will know my kids. She usually goes by Lexi. I  like Alexa, and like the added bonus of the connection with this friend. She's just a really great person so it would be kind of nice to acknowledge that in a somewhat indirect way

the other friend named Alexis that I have has been my friend since high school (im 22 now btw) We are pretty close. Have the same group of friends from high school and we all still hang out often. great girl. always goes bt Alexis ....no nickname.

So basically...does having a friend of two names Alexis ( and Lexi) eliminate
  Alexa from the list?

And wdyt of Alexa?

so i came across this article on international baby names and thought the 'ethnic' angle may interest some of you, too. i'm swiss+german and like some of these. for those who don't know: switzerland has 4 parts, divided by language -- german, french, romansch, and italian -- so for the first batch, the most popular names are listed that way.

french:
Emma, Lea
Nicolas, Thomas

romansch:

italian:

another list from switzerland (girls / boys)

1 Leonie, Leoni / Leon
2 Anne, Anna / Lukas, Lucas
3 Pia / Luis, Louis
4 Lilly, Lili / Luca, Luka
5 Lisa / Tim, Timm
6 Julia / Maximilian
7 Marie / Jonas
8 Sofie, Sophia / Finn, Fynn

11 Clara, Claire / Erik, Eric
12 Catharina, Catherine / Noah
13 Annika, Annica, Anika / Phillip
14 Emelie, Emely / Justin
15 Lucie, Lucy / Daniel

_________ Daniel Proudlock.

My son is called Kade, so it'd be something modern, but not too wacky.

Ideas?

"Kade would like to announce the arrival of his beautiful baby brother, _______ Daniel". For the life of me i couldn't think.

I love the nickname Lane/Laine for a boy or a girl. Alas, we have plenty of boy names picked out already, so I'd love to hear what names for a girl you could take Lane/Laine from as a nickname (besides Elaine and its variants).

Also, just out of curiosity, which spelling do you prefer for a girl?

Thanks!

Gabrielle Reece had a baby boy named Brody Jo.
Julianna Margulies had a baby boy named Kieran Lindsay.
John C. McGinley had a daughter named Billie Grace.

Don't really like any of them...

I just found one of my favorite names lists from when i was thirteen:

Girls:
Hero (i loved much ado about nothing hahaha)
Monet
Charli
Juliette
Khol
Willow
Teagan
Charlotte

Boys:
Carter
Gabe
Pierre
Sagen
Rayne
Kyran
Cayden (before the aiden trend! hahaha)
Skylen

On the WTF front, Monet, Hero, Khol, Pierre, Sagen, Rayne Kyran, Skylen? I don't even know how i came up with some of those. hahaha.

I still like Willow and Charlotte, and Carter and Gabe, though. What names did you like when you were younger?

I'll post my top 3 for boy/girls now:

Girls:
Harper Camilla (kuh-mill-uh, not ca-meel-yuh)
Willa Austen
Elinor Delphine

Boys:
Cyrus Jude
Wyatt Thatcher
Henry Wilder
(and yeah, i seem to like cowboy-esque names. hahaha)
