Alexa has been on my mind lately...but i have one problem with it.

I have 2 friends named Alexis

One has been a friend since we were little. I don't talk to her often but we try to get together on occasion. I'm sure we will stay in touch for our whole lives....so she def will know my kids. She usually goes by Lexi. I  like Alexa, and like the added bonus of the connection with this friend. She's just a really great person so it would be kind of nice to acknowledge that in a somewhat indirect way

the other friend named Alexis that I have has been my friend since high school (im 22 now btw) We are pretty close. Have the same group of friends from high school and we all still hang out often. great girl. always goes bt Alexis ....no nickname.

So basically...does having a friend of two names Alexis ( and Lexi) eliminate
  Alexa from the list?

And wdyt of Alexa?

Alexa is okay, but has always struck me as somewhat childish. I think Alexandra, nn Alexa, would be much nicer, and would give her the option of something more 'professional' or 'sophisticated' sounding to go by on official documents and in business, etc.

I don't think it's a huge deal. Alexa and Alexis might be close, but Alex/Lexi wouldn't be a big deal. And if you like the name because of these people, too, that's great. I want to name my first daughter after my best friend, but I'm going to use Eliza Adrienne (her name is Adrienne Elizabeth) instead of going for the first name.

i don't particularly like alexa. it's kind of neutral/blah.
but if i liked it, i wouldn't avoid it just because friends have a similar name.

I'm thinking of naming my daughter after my best friend (Sarah), so no... it wouldn't eliminate it for me :)

My best friend's name is Simon and I love this name, I loved it before I even knew him. My first son will be Simon, I don't care if it's my best friend's name.
If you love Alexa go for it! It's a great name by the way!!

Alexa is really popular where I am and I don't like it.
I far prefer Alexandra or Alexandria, in which case the nick name Alexa would work.

If 10 years down the road you hate your friends Alexis will you always associate the name Alexa with them? That would be my only concern. I love the name Christine, but I have an ex-friend named Christy and wouldn't use it for the association. If it wouldn't bother you then I'd keep it as a possibility.

I prefer Alexia, and I wouldn't use it or not based on having friends with that name.
