Feb. 11th, 2008 09:15 pmJust curious on everyone's thoughts on these names:
Jack
Miles [nn Milo]
James [nn Jamie]
Luca
Sophie
Pier
Ofelia/Ophelia
I quite like Jack, but for some reason it seems a little to plain to me. I'm torn; I'm not sure if I would use it or not. I like Milo a lot more than Miles but everyone seems to think that Milo sounds like a dog's name or that it's too nicknamey. I've always loved James, although again it seems a little plain. The nickname Jamie has really grown on me, even though my best friend [who is a girl] is called Jamie and sometimes it trips me up to think of it on a boy. My sister and I have fought over who gets to use the name Lucas for years now, but lately I've been favoring Luca a little bit more, I'm not sure why.
I've always loved Sophie; it seems so classic and ageless. I prefer it to Sophia, although I think that name is pretty as well. I know Pier is commonly a boy's name and that Pier Angeli, who I would use the name after, was really named Annamaria Pierangeli, so Pier was not actually her first name. But I find something charming about it regardless. I don't know if I'd ever honestly use it but I like it quite a lot. Ofelia I've just recently started to take a liking too, although I'm not sure which spelling I prefer. I'm wondering about nicknames as well, as I can't think of any except maybe Lia off the top of my head.
