A lot of old names are becoming new again. I've noticed Dorothy being used a lot more. Well, what about Doris? It actually has a beautiful meaning:
I think that it would be ridiculously cute to see a little curly-haired girl in pink overalls running around named Doris. Dory and Dorie and Dora are good nicknames. What do you think? Is there any life in this old girl?
NOTE: This was my grandmother's name and before she died she made me promise NEVER to name my daughter Doris because she hated it. But if I ever used it, it would probably be as a middle name for Elisabeth. Elisabeth Doris doesn't look TOO bad, I don't think.
DORIS
Gender: Feminine Pronounced: DOR-is (English), DO-ris (German) [key]
Ancient Greek name which meant "Dorian woman". The Dorians were a Greek tribe who occupied the Peloponnese starting in the 12th century BC. Doris was also the name of a Greek sea goddess.

Feb. 12th, 2008 02:29 amI have so much trouble with boys names that aren't popular. I am finally admitting that I do like the name Drake, although it makes me feel like a teeny bopper because of Drake Bell (and yes I do like his music, which embarrasses me because I'm 21, and no that is not the reason I like the name). So, my question is what do you think of the sib set of Aurelia, Violet and Drake or Aurelia, Ada and Drake?
Also what do you think of the name Eulalia? It hasn't been in the top 1000 since 1938 (or around there).

Feb. 12th, 2008 12:30 pmi'm having a hard time choosing between matthew and cameron.
when we were expecting our daughter, we had matthew picked out as the name had we had a boy so this time around it's also at the top of of list. lately though the name cameron keeps coming to me. i had a dream the other night that i had a son and his name was cameron. before that i hadn't really considered the name since we were so sold on matthew but now i'm leaning towards cameron. i adore the nickname cam.
so which sounds better..
matthew john richard
or
cameron john richard
TIA!

Cheryl
Daniel Brian Frank
Freya
Imogen Grace
Jade Adele
Jenna
Joanna Eileen
John Murray
Karl Anthony
Kaylia [Kay-la]

Also, the guy I work with told me his full name the other day. Previously I had just called him Jamie, but his full name is James Leander. He got a bit freaked out when I told him how much I loved his middle name!
Someone post a name game, I'm rubbish at thinking up the ideas, but I might die of boredom soon, haha!

Feb. 12th, 2008 10:27 pmOkay...
Isla
"eye-luh" or "ee-luh" ??
I think both sound pretty, but I always say "ee-luh" because I'm pretty sure it's how you pronounce the Spanish word for "island."

Feb. 12th, 2008 10:49 pmI just saw this name in the newspaper. One year old girl named Alivya. I like the name Olivia. I'm kind of meh on the name Alivia, but spelled Alivya? Just...no.
Edit: Oh, and it gets worse. I hadn't made it to the first birthdays section, yet. Among the four children celebrating first birthdays are
Masen Allen *lastname*
Twins: Jahneesa Louise and John Lewis *lastname*....children of Jennifer and Jay.
