I quite like both a lot. But I'm a sucker for French names :P

I met a girl 10 years ago who had a boyfriend named Wynter. I completely loved it. Unfortunately, I don't know if I would use it now because it seems to fit with the trendy names? Or maybe fit in a lil but not too much? WDYT?

Also, I'm totally hooked on Prue for a girl. Not Prudence shortened, but PRUE. That is my one stipulation for names: nothing shorten-potential like Josh-Joshua etc.

WDYT of Wynter and Prue. Also for a boy: Troy

I've (well the whole family) have been teasing my FSIL and saying that she's pregnant.  She's adament that she's not. Anyway I wanna come up with some names for her imaginary baby. Her husband and his two brothers have the same initials...C.S. and last name Geer. So I'm looking for a C-first name and a S-middle name for girls and boys.

Any takers?

What are some good middle names for Lily?

WDYT of Lily anyway? It's (yet another) name I'm considering for our future daughter.

Hi there! Just found out on Tuesday that I'm most likely having a girl, and I wanted to brainstorm names.

Hellooooo everyone:]

As a huge name-obsesser  I've come to seek some of your opinions of names for two of my stories. When I write, the names always have to be very well thought out, so if it sounds like I'm nitpicking, just hang tight:]

Anyway, thanks everyone! This is clearly a great community!

My great grandma is in the hospital right now and it doesn't look like she is going to live much longer.  I'd like to honor her some how but I don't really like her first name, I do love her middle name though but it is very popular.  Her name is Virginia Elizabeth and I do know her neighbors call her Ginny.  Do you think there are any names that could come from her name?  I already have one girl named chosen Aurelia Josephine, so I guess I could use help on the second daughter.  Names I like are Violet, Ada, Leila, Lena and Louisa.  I think Violet Virginia might be too many V's.

Speaking of my grandparents names, my great great grandma (who died in 2004 at age 106 and Virginia's mother) was named Alvina and her husband, my great great grandpa (who I never met) was named Henery.  Virginia's children's names are Donald, Jean and Janice.  Jean is my grandma.

Hi all! I would like to collect middle-name suggestions for Maria.

I like unusual as well as classic names, it should have personality but not be so strong to overshadow the first name. I don't mind a name that also ends in -a, as almost all italian names do, so it wouldn't be considered redundant here (I'm in Italy).

Thank you muchly, I appreciate all sorts of suggestions! :)

What do you think of these combos? I usually just focus on the first name so I decided to give combos a try. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions would be great...especially new names for the mn slot that are not on this list.

Hello there everyone! I've been a member here for a while, but I've been ignoring my lj obligations... heh. Anyhow, I just got a little kitty and he really needs a name. At the shelter they called him Lucas, which I don't dislike, but I really want to name him myself. I had two kitty names in mind-- Pixel ((from Heinlein's 'The Cat Who Walked Through Walls')) and Trooper ((as in Sean 'Trooper' Thorton from 'The Quiet Man'))-- but he doesn't seem like a Pixel or a Trooper. Then I was thinking Cole, as in Cole from 'Charmed' but I'm not sure I like that enough. So, any ideas?

Click for cute pictures! )

I heard this name last night on American Idol. Cardin? What do you think? I thought it was unusual, but I like it.

Hey! I just joined the community yesterday, and figured I'd jump in with some favourites of my own. :) I don't have any kids, and probably won't for quite a while, but I love names (especially looking at the meanings!)

So here are some of my favourite names (and the meanings of those I particularly like):

Girls
Hannah Cadence (I used to like the combination "Hannah Grace", but then I realized that Hannah actually means "grace", so..yeah. Plus, I love that Cadence is a "musical" name.)
Siobhan Elizabeth (I'm Irish, so I love Siobhan -- it means "God is gracious." And I've always loved Elizabeth; I actually wanted to change my own name to Elizabeth for years.)
Adrienne Grace
Audra Madeline
Cethlyn Anais
Fiona Marie (I love the name Fiona, and the Marie would be in honour of a beloved aunt who died six years ago.)
Margaret Rose (Margaret in honour of another aunt, who died five years ago.)

Boys
Patrick Michael (Patrick is a family name on my mom's side, and Michael is my dad's name.)
James Lucas (no specific reason, I just love the names James.)
Gavin Samuel
Jack Henry (I love, love, LOVE the name Jack. And Henry is so cute, too.)
Liam James (again with the James...lol. And Liam is Irish and means "strong-willed warrior.")
Damon Jared (I don't know exactly why I like this name so much. I think the two just go really well together.)
Jacob Elijah
Timothy John

Now, I may never get to use any of these names at all -- the verdict's still out on whether I'll ever be able to have children -- but these are the ones I'd have on my list if it ever happened.

WDYT?

Hello everyone! I just discovered this group a couple days ago. I've always loved finding names that I liked and making name combos for future kids.

I noticed a few times people in the community have said they would not consider a "top ten" name.

I am curious to know what everyone would individually consider to be the top ten girl's names and the top ten boy's names.

And here's a twist, what would you consider to be the top ten girl's/boy's names from about 5 decades ago?
