I met a girl 10 years ago who had a boyfriend named Wynter. I completely loved it. Unfortunately, I don't know if I would use it now because it seems to fit with the trendy names? Or maybe fit in a lil but not too much? WDYT?

Also, I'm totally hooked on Prue for a girl. Not Prudence shortened, but PRUE. That is my one stipulation for names: nothing shorten-potential like Josh-Joshua etc.

WDYT of Wynter and Prue. Also for a boy: Troy

Wynter might be shortened to Wyn(n) which is an old-fashioned but still well known name where I am. I'm not sure if I like Wynter though.

Prue is alright - it makes me think 'prove'. Same with Troy, though I'm not usually a fan of place names.

lol, that's funny. I had a friend in middle school named Prue and we all called her Roo because she didn't like her name.

I love Troy.

I don't like Prue because of Shannen Doherty's character on Charmed. :( She ruined it for me.

Aww, Prue was my favorite Charmed one!

Wynter seems too feminine for a guy to me, especially with that spelling. I do love Winter for a girl, though. I like the look of Prue, but both it and Prudence immediately make me think of prunes.

Troy's not bad.

My (female) cousin's name is Devynn Wynter. I think it's cute, but not for a boy.

Prue is also adorable, but I personally wouldn't use it because I'm a Charmed addict and the connection would be too obvious to those who know me (and know that Prue was my least favorite of the sisters).

Troy is ok. Not horrible, but not great.

I really don't like Prue, it makes me think of prude.
Winter is ok spelt like this, it's not something i'd ever use but it's an ok name.
I like Troy =)

Agreed. Or Poo. Ofcourse people are free to name as they please, but I fear the names kids come up with, especially when they are right there for the taking.

i usually hate typically female names on guys, but i think i may prefer winter on a guy. only spelled with an i though, the y looks unnecessary and trendy and it makes it look ten times more feminine.

prue doesn't look like a name to me, even a shortened one. it also sounds like peru, but i may be pronouncing it wrong?

i'm not a huge fan of troy but i like it more than prue.

Prue is OK for a middle name.
Montel Williams' daughter is named Wyntergrace. I think they just call her Wynter though.
Troy is OK, I knew a Troy Mayo.

I love Pru... I wish Prudence didn't suck so much because I don't like shortened names as names. I don't like Troy or Wynter.

Oh, I totally understand. I've asked her about other names Pru could be short for. It does sound incomplete on it's own to me, at least as a name for someone in a lifetime, if that makes sense =]

i like wynter. i think it could be used for either a boy or a girl, although i find it more feminine.
i also like pru/prue, but not prudence. i LOVE the song "dear prudence", but cannot..for the life of me..make myself like the name prudence. haha. so i always thought pru/prue was a good alternative.
i'm not a big fan of troy. it seems like it should be a nickname, but the only full word i can think of that can be shortened to troy is destroy.

Prue always reminds me of an old person... or of Charmed.

Wynter is just wrong. :\ Sorry.

Wynter is absolutely terrible. Not only is it not spelled right, it looks ridiculous. It definitely fits in with the 'trendy names' A LOT. Prue isn't great either. Troy is okay, compared to the other two, at least.

I don't like Wynter or Prue at all. Wynter is a totally trendy version of Winter, which I hate almost as much -- it's a season, not a name -- and Prue is awful.

I would never use Troy myself, but I like it.

i have cousins named wynter and wyatt. i don't particularly care for it. wynter just looks incorrect. plus my cousin was born in like, june...

i like winter, spelled correctly, on a girl. though i guess it could be used on a boy, too.
i like prue a lot, but as a nickname for prudence or prunella. it's too much of a nickname. i would consider naming a daughter prudence just because dear prudence is the sweetest song ever. :)

Wynter is oddly attractive... it sounds mysterious to me.
i don't like prue or troy.

I like Wynter for a boy, it's cute!

And the name Troy is amazing, full stop.

I dig Prue and Troy a lot, actually.

Wynter... yeah, sounds like a stereotypical goth nickname, but I like it with an 'i', on boys or girls! Wintermute is also an option (that I'm quite fond of), although it's much more common as a surname.
