EDIT because I'm curious

How do you pronounce Tamara?

TAM-a-rah
Ta-MAR-ah (rhymes with 'are')
Ta-MARE-ah (rhymes with 'air')

Good Morning...

Just wandered if any one had any suggestions for an unusal, pop culture related name for a female born aroung 1975. TV, books, music, social issues, whatever. It would help if it could be shorted to a reasonabley normal nickname...or if the first and middle initials were passable as a nn (AJ, JD, etc...).

Thanks!

LaRue

I quite like it, but only as a middle name.

I work at a kids' clothing store and I usually hear a ton of little kid names, but these few in the last couple days kind of stuck with me:
Daysia
Kinsley Carol

WDYT?
When I first heard Daysia I thought it sounded kind of nice, but I dono... I don't really like the look of it. I do not like Kinsley Carol at ALL.

Also, a family was in last night, and their little girl wandered away so they called for her to come back and were yelling "Og! Oggy!" Does anyone have any clue what that could be a nickname for? Hopefully it's not just Og.

So i like these two names but they are too similar to both use.

So what do you think of them? Which is better? Feel free to comment on both names if you like/don't like both too.

Ryan (for a boy)

Riley (for a girl)

thanks

One of my two on campus jobs is heading up the scheduling part of our campus tour office. So, I compiled a list of all of the current tour guides for everyone to see. Our office serves as a sampling of all majors, ethnicities, genders, etc.

All of these people were born between 1985 and 1990.

Middle names were included where I knew them. Which is like... in just three cases including my own name.

My Co-Workers )

So.

I revived my old, old LJ just to post to baby_names again :)

clickety click )

WDYT? I have included some French names, or French variants (particularly in the boys section) because I spent a summer over there and plan to someday live and work there for a few years :)

Somehow the boy and I got on the topic of baby names this weekend and he told me he wants to name his son Declan I could go for that, I suppose. My favourite boy name is Sebastian he said he liked the sound of Sebastian Declan
We're not trying to have kids, of course, we're still in college, but all the same, what do you think of those names? I'd never considered Declan before. His other name choice was Kiernan, mine is Remus.

ps. what do you think of the name Augustine for a girl, pronounced aw-guss-teen
[identity profile] pale-september.livejournal.com
Well, no Brena Lillian for me. I'm having twin boys. :) My intuition sucks apparently.

If you're free enough please make with the male names! My husband likes strong Norwegian type names and I'm for anything that's not super popular. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again!

What do you think of Madalina? It's the romanian version of Madeline.

Other variants:
Madeleine = french
Maddalena = italian
Madalena = portuguese

Which one/s do you like best?

On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, they redid the house of a family with four kids. All four kids have a rare immune system disease, where their white blood cells attack pretty much any food they put into their body. It was pretty heartbreaking to watch. Their names also made me a little sad (but they were the cutest things ever).

Ryan (dad)
Karia (mom) -- prn. carrie uh
Kayden, 6
Jetty, 5
Bailey, 4
McKinnon, 2

Are there any names you love, but you can't use, for whatever reason?

I love the name Ptolemy. I think it's awesome, and an all around great name, and I just love the way it sounds. Unfortunately... Ptolemy.

On the plus side, little Ptolemy would definitely be the only Ptolemy in his class.

On the minus side, his name would be Ptolemy.

It would sound nice, but no one would be able to spell it, and they'd probably be like, "Was your mother smoking some kind of Egyptian crack when she named you...?"

Honestly, I love the name so much, I would be tempted to use it if I ever had a son. But unfortunately, I think it's just too weird. And that sucks.

Opinions on the name Avé?

Like Ave Maria.. ahh-vay.

Makes a nice change to Ava, or just odd?

My hubby and I are pretty set on a boys name when we get preggers. For a girl, we like Eleanor or Eloise, leaning toward Eleanor.

For a middle name we are of the "family name" ideology.

So what middle name works best with Eleanor? For information, our last name is pronounced Loo.

Mary
Mary-Alice
Olivia
Emma
Rachel
Rosemary
Carol

For the record, my favorite is Mary.

I know this is a community for baby names but often we get into conversations about our pets names and people often post pictures asking for names for pets. I'm sure there has been a post about what you named your pets but I figured I'd post and see what people named their animals (or what they plan to name future animals).

Past Animals:
Shelby A collie dog that I had growing up
Gretchen and Bridget My parents' old German Shepherds; one died as a puppy from a disease and the other got out of my grandfather's yard when she was left there during a move
Jingle Bells A tuxedo cat that got lost during a move
Shadow My mom's thirteen year old cat
Madeline A Great Pyrenees we had until just recently
Blossom Our rabbit
Reeses Our guinea pig

Current Pets:
Andorra Powder Our other, older Great Pyrenees
Cowboy My fourteen year old cat
Herby My little sister's turtle
Edward Alphonse My sisters' tabby cat
Pepper My mom's two year old Pomeranian
Callie My sister's calico kitten
Hemingway My other sister's white kitten
Mergaine My sister's gold fish
Oscar My dad's oscar fish
Ginger My mom's albino oscar fish

Future Pet Names:
I really want to name a pair of kittens Konami and Atari or Hank and Dean.

Also, depending on the breed, I want to name a male puppy Rockstar, Buck, or Hero.

92 - Aubrey
105 - Molly
578 - Marie
921 - Adelaide

36 - Jackson
