What do you think of Madalina? It's the romanian version of Madeline.

I absolutely adore that name and it is in our top 3 for girls. So far everyone I've run it by is not a fan. I prefer Maddalena, as we are of Italian descent. :)

Isabella was also on my list, I LOVED it until I realized that my boyfriend's accent (he's from Rome) completely spoils the name lol ..with his accent, it becomes Isabbbbbella.

Because Caroline is often (not always, but often) l-eye-n versus Carolyn which is clearly lyn :). When my friend named her baby Madeline, I had to ask which way it was pronounced (lyn) :).

I don't understand what you mean, hehe. How would it be pronounced l-eye-n for Caroline, but couldn't be for Madeline, hehe. They're both spelled line :). But I agree, it's WAY more commonly madelyn (pronounciation, not spelling) than l-eye-n. I just like to check, because while I think Madelyn is adorable, I think Madel-eye-n is awful :). Granted, I far prefer Carolyn to Caroline as well :).

I think Caroline is pronouced as -line because it's being read phonetically.
But Madeline isn't read phonetically, in fact the Made- part is pronounced Mad-, regardless of what it ends with. If the -line part should be an issue, then I guess the Made- part should too.

No, I read it like you do; but neither of us reads it 'made' as in 'made in japan', right? which we should, if we were to read it phonetically, and we were reading -line as in 'fish line'.
So what I'm saying is, the -line part shouldn't be a concern, as the Made- part isn't :P
