My hubby and I are pretty set on a boys name when we get preggers. For a girl, we like Eleanor or Eloise, leaning toward Eleanor.

For a middle name we are of the "family name" ideology.

So what middle name works best with Eleanor? For information, our last name is pronounced Loo.

Mary
Mary-Alice
Olivia
Emma
Rachel
Rosemary
Carol

For the record, my favorite is Mary.

I LOVE Eleanor; I'm not so crazy about Eloise. The one thing I'd be worried about is that Eleanor/Eloise would most likely end up getting shortened to Ellie -- if not by you, then definitely by other people. And Ellie Loo sounds more like a nickname -- Ellie-Lou -- than a first/last combo. But if that doesn't bother you...

My favorite is Eleanor Rachel, and I also like Eleanor Mary.

If you're going to stick with the El- first name, I'd definitely stick with Eleanor. She could always go by Nora instead, and that doesn't flow together as much with your last name. Eloise doesn't really have any other options.

That's true. I think it sounds worse when the name ends in the -ee sound, though.

Example: Rachel Loo sounds a lot less cutesy than Ellie Loo.

I love Eleanor AND Eloise. Eleanor is what we'll name our daughter, if we have one.

With Eleanor, I like Rachel, and with Eloise, I like Mary.

I think that Eleanor Mary or Eleanor Rosemary sound nice. Eleanore is also a very pretty name and Elanore Lou sounds veyr sweet.

i love eleanor, much better than eloise. theyre both nice, but theres something so special and timeless about eleanor.

i think with your last name, i would stay away from mary as the middle name.

i think eleanor olivia is beautiful!

I also like Rachel but I'd steer clear of it in your case because it would sound jumbled together like Eleanoracheloo.

Eleanor Mary 'Loo' could be taken as 'Mary Lou', but it's what I like about it :D

Eleanor Rachel is pretty, but the l in Rachel merges with L in Loo.
Same with Carol.

Olivia might be a bit prissy, together with Eleanor.

Rosemary is really not my taste, so I couldn't recommend it.

Eleanor Emma, nah they're too close, it gets boring.

Mary-Alice is too long, but it's a pretty idea (I love Mary ____ names)

so in the end, yeah, my favorite is definitely Mary too :D

I like Eleanor Mary and Eleanor Emma, but said quickly, I was thinking the full name would sound like Eleanor Mary Lou or Eleanor Emmylou. I think Olivia works best.

You probably get this a lot, but that's such a great icon.
