Adawnice

There's a girl in one of my classes named Adawnice. It's pronounced uh-DAWN-iss. And I know it's spelled that way because of the class roster online.

I've never heard the name before, but I thought it was intriguing, so I tried to look it up on baby names sites, but I couldn't find it anywhere; there are only two hits for it on Google.

Has anyone ever heard this name before? Any idea what it means? Just curious, really. I think it's kind of pretty but I'm not in love with it.

Oh, the girl goes by Dawn for short.

Just wondering if anyone has any 'family names' or reoccurring names.

In my family, the name is Elizabeth. I can only track its starting point to my great great grandmother of the same name who went by 'Lily'(which leads me to think she may not have been the starting point). Since then Elizabeth has been used as either a first or middle name for a female child of every sibset.

My middle name is Elizabeth and I share it with 3 cousins and a niece. I have a cousin with the first name Elizabeth and my grandmother's name was also Elizabeth. My grandmother did not give the name to my mom for whatever reason but for the generations after her it is going strong.

So, what are your family names?

This name doesn't exactly pertain to names (wholly, atleast)... buuut.. I wanna know!

Whilst pregnant, what was/is your weirdest food craving?

And, what do you think of the name Alandra (pron Uh-lon-dra)?

side note: I'm definitely not preggo

Help!

I'm 16 weeks pregnant with twins, and although I don't know the sexes my intuition tells me at least one of them is female.

I've been reading the most common set of twins seems to be boy-girl.

I've decided to give my possible future daughter the name Brenna, although I can't really come up with a middle name. I love this name because it holds a significance to me. The song "Brena" by A Perfect Circle is somewhat our song and was played at our wedding (It's kind of cheesy, I know lol). The thing is, I'm not sure if "Bren-ah" is the way it's pronounced in the song. At times it seems as though he's saying "Bren-yah". I was wondering if anyone had a history of this name and possible variations? I've been trying to come up with something online but with no such luck.

Completely stuck on a boy name. I'm hoping my husband will let the middle name of our son be Michael, after him. My husband is against this idea because of the timeless popularity of it. So if anyone has any ideas of a boy name that would go well with Brenna or the middle name Michael I'd love to hear it. I know this is a huge amount of questions. Thanks. :)

Lola

So, one of my favorite girls' names is Lola; however, I feel that it lacks the maturity and sophistication that a grown woman would need when in the workforce, etc., so I'd prefer that it be a nickname for something else. I really can't stand Dolores, which it's normally short for, and while I like Lourdes, I don't love it, and I'm definitely seeing pronunciation/spelling problems with it.

So, I thought I'd make a poll and see what y'all think. From what I understand, Lola is derived from the lo in Dolores (which would explain how Lola could be a nickname for Lourdes), so I did a search for all names with lo in them and picked a few.

How important is it to think of sib sets when naming a first child?

I've been thinking about that a lot lately..  and while I was pretty set on the names for my baby.. I find myself wondering if I should make changes.
I love names for children that sound good together.. not necessarily match. Sounding good together is so important to me. However, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a LONG time before I have another child.

I've already posted this.. but again:
the names I have picked out + extras:
for a girl: Gianna Leigh.    Audrey Grace.      Natalie Olivia.
for a boy: Landon Miles.   Micah Cole.    Gabriel Ezra.

Does anyone have suggestions for names that sound good with any of these? Thanks. =)

WDYT of the name Keira?

What about the masculine form, Kieran etc.?

Edit: I personally love the name Kieran and was curious on how everyone viewed the feminine version.

Some names I've run across today

Epanthamie (f)
GraceCecilia Isabella
Madeline Jayla

Epanthamie is just....no

GraceCecilia Isabella....the double first name is bad enough, the add in the fact that they don't flow together AT ALL

Madeline Jayla, I like the names on their own, but not together in that order. I'd prefer Jayla Madeline.

Okay, I know I just made a post.. but I am completely devastated right now.
I didn't realize that people pronounce "Gianna" differently... until a few minutes ago when I was discussing it with a friend.

So, the question: How do you pronounce Gianna?

Also...
-Would you name your child something that people commonly pronounced in different ways?
-What do you like better- Audrey or Aubrey? And what middle name for either one... Grace or Olivia?
