WDYT of the name Keira?



What about the masculine form, Kieran etc.?

Edit: I personally love the name Kieran and was curious on how everyone viewed the feminine version.

I always pronounced Chiara like Kee-ah-rah, and Keira...well, like Key-rah/Keer-ah.

Chiara is Kee-ah-rah, yes.

Ciara is keer-ah.

Keira is just a spelling variation that came later.

My cousin is having a girl to be named Kiera Mackenzie. I'm not a huge fan of either names but they flow nicely together. I like Kieran for a boy a whole heck of a lot better. Kiera, spelled this way, makes me think of Kiera Knightley and I don't like her lol

I love Kieran! I don't like Keira as much just because I know that so many people would misprounounce it Kee-eh-ra, and I don't like that at all. I would like Kira though.

I know people pronounce Keira as KEER-ah, but it drives me nuts; the e and i ought to be reversed for speakers of English. Keira ought to be pronounced CARE-ah, and Kiera would be KEER-ah. Look at Kieran, for goodness sake.

That said, I like both Ciara and Cara; just make sure your K spelling reflects the name you're trying to use. Kieran/Ciaran is nice, too.

On a side note, wasn't the female gelfling in The Dark Crystal named Ciara (by whatever spelling)?

Yeah, I get what you mean. We only intend to use Kieran though, so there's no problem with pronunciation (I hope, lol)
