I'm 16 weeks pregnant with twins, and although I don't know the sexes my intuition tells me at least one of them is female.

I've been reading the most common set of twins seems to be boy-girl.

I've decided to give my possible future daughter the name Brenna, although I can't really come up with a middle name. I love this name because it holds a significance to me. The song "Brena" by A Perfect Circle is somewhat our song and was played at our wedding (It's kind of cheesy, I know lol). The thing is, I'm not sure if "Bren-ah" is the way it's pronounced in the song. At times it seems as though he's saying "Bren-yah". I was wondering if anyone had a history of this name and possible variations? I've been trying to come up with something online but with no such luck.

Completely stuck on a boy name. I'm hoping my husband will let the middle name of our son be Michael, after him. My husband is against this idea because of the timeless popularity of it. So if anyone has any ideas of a boy name that would go well with Brenna or the middle name Michael I'd love to hear it. I know this is a huge amount of questions. Thanks. :)

from thinkbabynames.com:
"The girl's name Brenna is pronounced BREN-ah. It is of Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "little drop of water". Modern use is probably as a feminine form of Brennan, and influenced by Brianna."

i usually pronounce Brenna as "bren-ah", i would also say Brena that way. you could also spell it: Brenah, Brennah. or if you want to say it like "Brinn-ah": Brinna, Brinnah, Brynna.

Twins! That's so exciting! Congrats =)
I only know Brenna pronounced as 'BREN-nah', so I don't know whether it is sometimes pronounced differently. Babynamesworld.com lists it as a variant of Bryn, though, and it has the same meaning as 'Brennan' ('hill'), so maybe it's a feminine version of that name?
Brenna & Michael sounds good, actually. But it makes a nice middle name as well =). As for suggestions...
Finley Michael
Joseph Michael (I don't think Joseph goes particularly well with Brenna, but Joe does, IMO! ;))
Alistair Michael
Samuel Michael

Congratulations! I am 9 weeks pregnant and was hoping for boy-girl twins, just to be done in one go! But, I just have one little heartbeat.

I like Michael, precisely because it is timeless. This may sound weird, but what about Brann? It's a Celtic name, and I can't seem to pinpoint the meaning, there are several that seem to come up. But Brenna and Brann? Brann Michael X? I think it works.

The song is after his wife's middle name.
Her middle name is pronounced Bren-Yah.
Brena and Brenna have different pronounciations.

I'm a Brenna, so I can weigh in on this subject. Hee hee.

My name is pronounced Bren-uh. You'd be surprised by how many people tend to screw that up. A lot of people like to add extra letters or syllables to it. Don't get me started on how many people like to call me Breanna, Breena, or Brenda, too. Ugh.

Brena would be Bren-yah with the tilde. I've never met anyone else with the one N spelling, so I'm not sure how that'd be pronounced. I'm assuming it would be either Bren-uh or Breen-uh.

As far as history goes, it's Gaelic, but some people dispute that (see here (http://mailman.itasca.net/public/ns-heralds/2006-January/003864.html) and here (http://www.medievalscotland.org/problem/names/brianna.shtml) for more info). It's also a Norwegian and Italian last name, and means "to burn" in Icelandic. ;)

For the middle name, I think a one-syllable name is best. I'd just avoid using anything with an A on the end.

I really don't like Michael. It's one of those names that have been ruined for me.

Hope that helps you out!

My husband is against this idea because of the timeless popularity of it.

That's a reason to be FOR a name.

I'm not fond of Brenna as I have a thing about Br- names. I think they remind me of Brenda which sounds very frumpy. I suppose it's nice enough... but I wouldn't use it.

It's 'Bren-ya' because of the squiggle over the n. You're not spelling the name of the song correctly.
