One more question

Rory

Boy or girl?
[identity profile] x-cherrydarling.livejournal.com
I really want to incorporate my mom's name into my first daughter's name. Her name's Linda. I can't use Linda as a first name I don't like the idea of having 2 Lindas so close by. It'd get confusing.

Therein lies the problem: How do I incorporate Linda?

My thoughts are using the name Melinda or Mayalinda as a first name or using Linda as a middle name. But, so far I haven't found any first name to pair Linda with.

Any suggestions?

Honestly I'm quite glad that they (the N.Z. government) stopped that name from being given. Can you imagine the ridicule that poor child would go through? *shudders*

4real?

Would you ever try to name your child something with a numeral in front?

Does the United States have something like that, the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages?

Because the babies are napping and I'm putting off housework:

My SO and I were discussing names for our next child[ren] recently. Our son's name is Lucas James - middle name after my father. He wants to give our next baby the middle name of Aaron/Erin after his younger brother who passed away last October. I love the idea of honoring his little brother but am having a hard time thinking of names I like that don't rhyme with Aaron/Erin and sound good with a two syllable surname starting with V and ending with an ER.

Right now we have these as potential BOY names:

Christopher Aaron.
Bradley Aaron. <-- his suggestion, I don't like Bradley.
Levi Aaron.
Zachary Aaron.
Drake Aaron.

I had my heart set on the name Adelaide Juliet with this pregnancy, but I ended up with a boy. I wanted to use it for a girl one day but with the new suggestion of Erin as a middle name, it isn't possible [unless I end up with a set of fraternal boy/girl twins, which is a very REAL chance] and I don't think either name really sounds that great with Erin.

Adelaide Erin.
Juliet Erin.

The other girl name I had picked out is Adrienne Lacey. Again, neither of them sounds awesome with Erin, although they aren't horrible combinations. I do not really like Lacey as a first name, though. It's a bit frilly and froo-froo for my tastes.

Adrienne Erin.
Lacey Erin.

I don't like "trendy" names like Aiden/Jayden/Blahblayden. And prefferably nothing on the top 10 in the US right now. We aren't planning on our next child for at least 3 years, but I'm pretty sure the top names won't change all that much..

Any suggestions for boys or girls? Remember, our son's name is Lucas James.

Do you like Quaye for a boy?

And would you use Marissa for a girl, or is that too Orange County? :P

Opinions!

I'm not expecting yet, but hopefully will be in a few years. We already have a boy's name picked out (James Warren - both are family names), and I was looking for some opinions on my favorite girl's names...

inspired by an earlier post, i'd like to bring up the *horrible, horrible* fad of parents naming their kids after tv/movie characters! Every few years a character will *inspire* a generation of names.

A few that i recall without too much thought:

Gilmore girls - Lorelai, Rory
Dawson's creek - dawson, pacey
Casper (the movie) - casper
Bewitched - tabitha

Can you think of any others?

What is your opinion?

(I'm trying to stir up a lively debate!)

so i was around a few kids today. All 3 years old and under. Here are their names

Joey (full name is Joseph)
Ava
Killian
Eamonn (pronounced: Aye-Mun)

Ava and Killian are brother and sister btw.

Ava has always been a fav. of mine.

I have never heard of Eamonn before today...but  I have to say I think I like it.

I come from a family of relatively normal (albeit particularly Polish) names. In my immediate family, there is:

Richard (dad)
Elizabeth (mom)
Jennifer (nickname Jeni, sister)
Paul
Katharine (nickname Kasia [think Tasha, with a K], me)
Karoline

So, first off, what do you think of my family's names or mine in particular?
Secondly, here's a list of names I'm really into, although I'm sure I won't have to use them anytime soon. Let me know what you think:

names i like )
