Date: 2007-06-21 05:16 pm (UTC)I am thinking. Slade would do well as a middle name. Because you can pretty much get away with cool names as middle names. But if you try to use a 'cool' name as a first name, you end up generally just setting the child up to be made fun of.
HOWEVER. Try to take comments with a grain of salt because it's unlikely that the child's generation would even find out the reputation of their name, you know?

Date: 2007-06-21 08:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Of course, if the connection was huge (and I don't think this one is) I probably wouldn't consider.

Date: 2007-06-22 02:12 am (UTC)I just think it's terrible and..harsh, if that makes sense. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak. I don't really like 'power' names, such as Blade, Blaze, so on and so on. It strongly reminds me of one of those. Also sounds on the made-up side of the spectrum. Usually I go for meaningful long standing names, often with some sort of history involved. This name doesn't spark that in me. To me, it sounds like someone is trying to be modern and 'hip', and just ended up with a bad name choice reminiscent of the 80's. Hammer pants and all.

Date: 2007-06-22 02:16 am (UTC)It does sound a little, "Look at me, my name makes me sound stronger and therefore better than you."
