1. I seriously love you all. It's so refreshing to have a bunch of people around me who think that Jaden/Jayden/Jaeden/Jeighdayn and such are icky trendy names. Thank you:]

2. Do any of you have any possible, more original nicknames for Emily? If you don't remember, I'm sick of my overused name and I found out recently that I might be moving and it's like "hello name change possiblity"! So yeah, I'm trying to get all the nicknames for Emily I can get. Not Em or Emmy, though, because I don't really like either. My middle name is Kaitlyn (so full name=Emily Kaitlyn) and you can incorporate that into the nickname too if you want. Thanks guys!

What could Tate be a nickname for?

I like it, but my husband thinks its too informal/not namish enough to be a given first name.

Thomas?
Nathan/Nathaniel?

First middle combos that could make this work appreciated, too. (for instance, James Kenneth = Jake, Catherine Cory = Cora, etc).

Someone posted a day or two ago looking for Autumn-themed names.

What are your favorite names that can be associated with each season?  Try to make them "real" or  as traditional as possible if you can. I think its more of a challenge to find names that you wouldn't THINK of being associated with each season (EX: Winter, Summer, etc).

Mine in the comments.

Medley

So I was watching the Olympics the other day, and there was a medley event happening in the pool. My reaction was something like, "Medley, I like that word. Hmm, that could almost be a cute name for a girl."

The general sound actually seems like it fits in with some of the more popular names these days, so I'm almost surprised I haven't heard it used yet.

It has a nice enough meaning (in the musical sense), and it definitely strikes me as a word name that could sound completely normal in the future if it were used more frequently. (FYI, it's never been in the top 1,000 according to SSA records.)

I doubt I'd ever seriously consider using it, but it seems like it has potential. What do you think?

8 week old twin girls came into the store yesterday:

Nemesis Arian
Odessey Re'Ann

I was just...wow...so I had to see what the mother looked like. Yeah, she was 15. This person is one reason why teen moms get stereotyped. Does she even know what Nemesis means, I wonder? She didn't speak English very well, so I guess it's possible she doesn't. Also, there should be a fine for using an apostrophe. blah.

So.. I find my personal name taste seems to change drastically.

I find myself thinking that even if I have names set in stone, when I finally HAVE children they will most likely change because I doubt my kids will look anything like I picture the children of the names I like looking like.

It seems more than likely that despite picking names ahead of time, that quite a few people probably are stumped when they're handed a baby that looks nothing like little Jacob Xavier Thomas Cruise, or whatever.

That aside, right now my name taste is..

but it is name-related.

For those of you who have legally changed your name - how did your parents take it? Were they supportive of your decision, or offended that you didn't like the name you were given?

Or, same question to the parents in the situation. If you've had a child change their name (or express the desire to change it), what were your thoughts about it?

My cousin and his girlfriend had a baby earlier this month called Cebee Louise. I have NO idea how to spell the first name, but I think it's awful, however it's spelt, haha.

Also, on a not even slightly related note, I'm going out next week with work dressed as pirates, and we need some piratey names!
Real, made-up, puns, silly, what ever!

wdyt?

Also, I was updating our contacts list at work today and found that we have 400 business aquaintances (out of 2200) named "Rick", 200 named "Rob/Bob" and 108 named "Andy".

Some unusual ones I noticed were Analek (f), Garo (m), and Rave (said as "Rahv" not "Rayve").

What middle name(s) do you think would go well with the first name Kyra?

The more suggestions the better.
Thanks =D
