Kind of an odd question, I think..
Aug. 27th, 2008 07:16 pmbut it is name-related.
For those of you who have legally changed your name - how did your parents take it? Were they supportive of your decision, or offended that you didn't like the name you were given?
Or, same question to the parents in the situation. If you've had a child change their name (or express the desire to change it), what were your thoughts about it?

Date: 2008-08-28 03:21 am (UTC)My name is Elyssa Aileen. I'm planning on changing Aileen to Elaine (I know El- El-, but it's a middle name, whatever.). They have the same exact letters, but I'm changing it to Elaine after the woman who raised me. Aileen is after my maternal grandma, but I never knew her or that family at all.
I haven't discussed it with anyone but the namesake, and she's ok with it. I imagine everyone else would be ok with it, seeing as the woman who named me hasn't been in my life at all. I'd become the fourth Elaine, as well. :)
