Hi everyone!

We've settled on the first name Joshua for our little guy who is due in March, but now we're stuck on a middle name. We were going to use David as that's my husband's middle name but that just feels like a cop-out choice.

We like the initials JP, so I'm looking for P-name suggestions. I'm not into any of the ones that have come to mind - Paul, Peter, Paolo or Percy. The only other one I can think of is Patrick, but that may be a bit cheesy as he's due on St Patrick's Day. =) My hubby is a big WWII buff (and a history professor) so we were toying with the middle name Patton after the general. However, we were vetoed by almost everyone we've talked to about that name.

Our last name is Stein if that helps with the flow.

TIA!

I posted this on pregnant and somebody there suggested I post it here as well saying that you're all creative and wonderful.

My boyfriend and I are having a hard time picking out a first name for our baby. I'm due April 3 and we gave ourselves a deadline of March 1 to figure out his first name so that we have time to think about it and everything. And that way if he comes early he'll have a name.

So far his name is __________ James Adams. We're trying to pick out a unique name that fits well with his middle and last name. But nothing too odd. It's been pretty dificult. We're thinking strongly about Brent James Adams because we like how it all sounds together and we don't know anybody named Brent. His middle name is the same as his daddy's and we do not want to change that and we also don't want to switch it to a first name.

So my question is, does anybody have any suggestions for first names that fit well with what we have so far??

TIA

What do you think of Indah?
It is a female Indonesian name that means 'beautiful'.

I think I like it. I love the name India but am not keen on the fact it's the name on a country! And I love the nickname Indy/Indie, too.

I've just fallen in love with a few names and wanted some feedback.

Amelie (AH-meh-lee)
Eloise (EL-oh-eeze)
Ariel/Arielle (AIR-e-el/ARE-i-elle)
Imogen (IM-o-gin)- nn Ginny

Another question- I've always thought Tallulah was adorable but I don't know if it would be an acceptable name for a child after age 8. I was thinking Tilly for a nickname but... thoughts, in general?

And finally, what do you think of the name Henry? It's my dad's middle name and I've always thought it'd be nice to name a child after him, but no so obviously as using the same name or his first name as a middle. I know there was a post earlier about nicknames for Henry- are any of them more appealing than the name itself? Basically, what's your stance on it?

Hi guys!

Can anyone suggest some middle names for Alba? (no names beginning with S, please)
I sort of feel that this name should be paired with an old fashioned elegant name, but I am definately open to any suggestions as long as they arent the kry8tive kind.

I'm not currently expecting (and my future first child already has a name LOL) but I am just a name freak and I think this stuff is fun! I like to see what other people come up with as far as pairing names. I've paired the name with a few middle names but I like to see what others think. This is a wierd hobby but obviously we all share it!

One of my cousins gave birth a few days ago and named her daughter...

Madison Kate

I heard earlier this year that she was looking for unique names, so I was expecting something a bit more interesting. It's much too trendy for me, but it could be worse...

Don't you hate/love it when someone waves a new baby name in front of your face, when you are already working with so many others that you love??

My mom asked, "What do you think about the name Grady? For a girl?"

I love it. I love it for either gender, but would have NEVER thought about it.

What do we think?

I "met" two really cute babies at my job this week -

Annagrace (one word, I asked)

and

Maryanne

I love Maryanne. Annagrace, not so much. Annagrace's mom seemed a little sheepish about the name she picked. It was as if she had to defend her choice, but she no longer thought the name was such a good idea. It was odd.

WDYT?

It's not a name that's on my list, but I've always quite liked the name Tristan. Then I discovered that it means 'sad'. I'm trying to decide whether that puts me off or not. I suppose most people are never asked what their names mean, and a lot of people don't even know. And I suppose 'sad' isn't an ugly or insulting meaning, but still..

Plus, I got my love of names from my mother and I have a feeling any children I had would share it. At the very least, it seems odd that someone who takes such an interest in names and can tell pretty much anyone they meet the meaning of thier name would have a kid with a name that meant 'sad'.

What do you think? Would it put you off?
