Don't you hate/love it when someone waves a new baby name in front of your face, when you are already working with so many others that you love??


My mom asked, "What do you think about the name Grady? For a girl?"

I love it. I love it for either gender, but would have NEVER thought about it.

I'm usually really picky about the names I like.. especially when I'm actually considering using them. So, it's usually "nah.. I don't like it" and it's over. lol. But, my brother asked me what I thought about Micah earlier.. and I haven't thought about it, but I LOVE it. It's definitely close to the top of my list now. It's worse when someone is realllly wanting you to use a certain name that you really don't love but you want to respect them. :(

But anyway, sorry.. lol. I don't like Grady that much.. especially for a girl. I like it better on boys.

I hate it, because certainly in my family it generally means that someone is trying to impose their will.

My mother is obsessed with trying to talk me into naming my future son Alexander. While there's nothing wrong with the name itself (I don't hate it), my fiance's grandfather, uncle and cousin are all Alexanders, and it's just too much. I've explained this, but every opportunity she gets, she points out how "lovely Alexander is for a boy..."

I'm not a fan of Grady, particularly for a girl, but it's just not my taste, that's all.

Ever since I told my mother I wanted to name my theoretical son Graden, she's said she wished she'd thought to name me that and call me Grady. (It was her mother's maiden name.) I didn't like it initially, but I think it's sort of cute now.

Pick your battles. You're right. I hate being a fucking woman sometimes. I get offended for a straight week once a month when someone farts wrong. My bad - hope I didn't turn your day sour!

Haha, if it makes you laugh, it makes you laugh. I actually read your comment wrong to begin with, I thought you were offended I didn't like the name, I was like, wtf. I suppose I should have used 'white-trashy' instead of redneck. I live in rural SC, redneck is not bad, unless it's in combo with white and or trailer trash ;) I should have said this, but I was quickly commenting before starting work. To explain: when I hear it, I see cammo and guns. There's a big outdoor/hunting store here called Grady's Great Outdoors. It truly is redneck dreamland, complete with cammo tree stands and a big blow up rifle out front. Hence, the redneck association.

I don't like it at all. It brings to mind the words "degrading" and "grade-a" (like beef) and good ole boys with their big trucks and Little Debbie snacks. Taking that into account, it seems bizarre and cruel on a girl.

I like some (vaguely) similar girl names, like Grace, Greta, and Grier. But not Grady.
