[identity profile] farawaysong.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
One of my cousins gave birth a few days ago and named her daughter...

Madison Kate

I heard earlier this year that she was looking for unique names, so I was expecting something a bit more interesting. It's much too trendy for me, but it could be worse...

I think it's really pretty, even though it's super trendy.

I know what you mean! A friend of mine named her son Ethan and claimed that it was VERY unique. I didn't feel it was right to argue... but of course I was like what?!

I like Kate, and at least she spelled Madison correctly, lol. I'm not really sure how it's 'unique,' though.

I think that's very true. I had this conversation with my mom and grandma the other day when we somehow got on the subject of baby names. I told my mom that I like the names Maren, Piper, and Louisa for a girl and she was like "What about Emily? I've always liked it," and I was like "Uh? It's the #1 name in the country, so even though I like it, I'd never name my kid that," and she just gave me this look like, "REALLY?? It's NUMBER ONE??" It was just so shocking that she didn't know that because I practically have the top 20 memorized, hahahaha. But then I again, I'm totally lame, so I guess it's just me;)

I think Kate is a beautiful middle name, but Madison I'm not too thrilled about.

It's a cute name and all, and super popular to boot, but I can't help but think of "medicine" when I hear that name.

Definitely could be worse.

And yay for babies!

Although it's a way popular name, I think it's really pretty =)

I'm not sure how I missed this post, but aaaah! I love your icon! That was my favorite movie for years! I still know it by heart.

On topic: Madison Kate's not too bad. Not my style. If I knew someone named that, I think I'd be tempted to call them Maddy Kate all the time.

Yes! I always loved A Little Princess, too, but not quite on the same level as TSG. I actually just read the original story, "What Happened at Miss Minchin's," the other day, and was considering rereading the book. It's been at least five years...

I think Maddy Paige is cute, too, although I like Kate a little better (because of Kate Maberly, actually).
