I asked a friend for some help in naming a pair of "twin" pets, so she sent me this link to a list of twin names. It's supposedly the top picks for twins, but I really hope some of them aren't used as much as this list says they are. Joshua and Joseph? Taylor and Tyler? Christian and Christopher? Jaden and Jordan? I could keep going on and on for which ones I don't like on there, though there are some I do like as well. What do you guys think? What's the worst?

Y names

I have come across some names that begin with Y. Yasmine is a form of "Jasmine". In the Middle East it can be "Yasmina". I am not sure which one I like better. I came across a girl named "Yesenia".

What do you think of "Yolanda"? Is that too outlandish?

These made me cringe.  And then I actually listened to the story- they were arrested for murdering a teacher, so maybe that makes their names even worse.

GCorey (yeah- pronounced like Ja-Corey)

and JaJuan (Ja- Juan).

I think it's all the extra capital letters in there.  I'm not sure, the names made me shudder though.

My last name is pronounced "Lou." My husband and I like the whole first name/last name start with the same letter thing (to a point. One kid could have a name that started with L). Anyway, we were thinking about names that start with L and we don't have a lot of boys names we like, and we really only have one girls name. Lucy. Lucy "Lou".

Would that be terrible? Will Lucy Liu still be famous in 5, 10, 15 years? If she is, will it matter? Our last name and her last name are spelled differently, but they are both Chinese.

Are there other "L" names you can think of that are nice? We are pretty traditional, so no Leahana or Lemonspirit or things like that.

Thanks!

Neva

I actually really like this name, but I can't help thinking of somebody yelling, "Neva!" as in never.

What do you think?

I've recently started to love the name Alana. What are everyones opinions on it?
If i ever used it i'd probably use the nickname Lana.

Also i was thinking about sibsets and came up with Logan, Alana & Alexa (Logan, Lana & Lexie). Is that sibset too cutesy do you think?

Anyway they're just thoughts and i'm not pregnant so it doesnt really matter at this point lol.

Ja(y)da?

I've been considering the name Jada/Jayda lately. I really like it. I think I prefer it spelled Jayda, but I was just wondering what the general consensus here was.

Even if you don't like the name, if you had to pick a spelling would it be Jada or Jayda?

You may or may not recall, a few weeks ago, when I mentioned that we apparently have a client by the name of Pornpit.

I've found her file again, and it turns out she goes by the nickname "Noy."

I have no idea where that comes from, but hey, it's better than Pornpit.

So, I'm having a baby girl. :) I was just curious as to what everybody thought of the name I've picked out, though I might change it. (Unlikely, but you know how it is.)

What do you think of these combos?

Aurelia Josephine
Deacon Manning
Calix Manning (cay-lix)
Leila Morgan

what do you think about double names, such as mary-kate ann-marie, etc?

I always hated them, but then a few years ago i randomly came up with the name combination Autumn-Leigh or Autumn-Lee, my mother insists this sounds totally trashy, especially compared to my other favourite names (ginevra, lennon, remus), but i love it anyway.

also, i harbor a secret love for the names in the book The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I'd never name my children most of them, but I love them:

Siddalee (F)
Viviane (F)
Baylor (m)
Lulu (F)
Denise (F)
Genevieve (F)
Connor (M)
Jack (M) - I've always loved this name, and John is a family name (most of them go by Jack too), but I'd never use it.
Beau (m)

What do you think of the name Violet?

I used to not like it, but I saw it today and it really struck me as a beautiful name.  I'd probably never use it as I see it becoming popular at some point, at least since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner named their daughter this.

Tanneke (I'm not sure how to pronounce this, but I pronounced it taNEHka in my head.)
Maertge (I LOVE it)
Lisbeth
Aleydis
Cornelia
Franciscus
Beatrix (I way prefer Beatrice)

Pet Names?

I'm always interested in what people have named their pets.

What was the pet and what did you name it? What were other possible names would it have been given?

Firstly, feel free to vote on my names:

There's only seven names right now. I deleted the ones that I knew I'd never ever use. These ones that are left are my favorites. Whaddya think?
EDIT: There's no last name listed because well, I'm single, don't have a guy in mind, and my kids wouldn't have MY last name. It's hard to judge names without seeing how they'd sound with a last name, but eh. Also, there's two on there without middle names. Theoretically, they would HAVE middle names. I just haven't decided what I would pair them with. /EDIT

Also, my brother and sister-in-law have three kids: Dominick Anthony, Lilliana Rae, and Scarlett Meena. All three have first names with eight letters in them. They didn't do that on purpose with Lilliana, but when they realized both had eight letters, they wanted the baby to match, so they gave her an eight-letter name. Also, "L" is eight letters from "D." And then "S" is seven letters from "L." So, the deal is if they have another baby, it needs to be eight letters, and start with "Y" because that's six letters from "S." I doubt they'll have more kids, but yeah. So, I was randomly thinking about this one day, and "Ysabelle" or "Ysabella" came into my head. Does it look stupid spelling it with a Y? Especially since it'd be done just for the sake of... well... spelling it with a Y. The only other name I found that worked was Yeardley. *shrugs* Kinda pretty (and yeah, I'm betting they'd have a girl if they had another. I dunno).

Along that same note. So far, those three are the only kids on my side of the family. My sister-in-law has nieces and nephews, but eh. So, I was thinking that maybe when I have kids one day, I'd keep the eight-letter thing going. What are some nice eight-letter names that might fit within my tastes (check out my name list)? Also, I tend to like girl names a lot, and suck at boy names. I have my boy names picked, but eh, they're not eight letters. lol.
