I just finished reading Girl With a Pearl Earring (which I liked) and there are some pretty fun Dutch names, a couple of which I really like.

Agnes
Frans
Pieter
Catharina (I really like this. Maybe not more than Catherine, but its definitely more interesting than Catherine)
Johannes
Tanneke (I'm not sure how to pronounce this, but I pronounced it taNEHka in my head.)
Maertge (I LOVE it)
Lisbeth
Aleydis
Cornelia
Franciscus
Beatrix (I way prefer Beatrice)

I think Catharina is so, so pretty, but in an English-speaking country, it just seems excessive. I stuck with Catherine.

Lisbeth would make a nice nickname for Elisabeth.

That was such a good book. I expected to hate it (don't like historical fiction), but I liked it a lot. I love Griet and Lisbeth. Aleydis looks pretty, but I can't figure out how to say it.

Just FYI, Beatrix is the Queen of the Netherlands right now. And I think no-one here would ever name their kid that!
I personally don't like any of the names 'cause they are all very old fashioned.
Except for Pieter (which is pronounced just like Peter).
And you pronounce Tanneke right, only it's TAN-neh-ka :)

That one's difficult...I'd say I'd pronounce it Mair-t-geh ('mair' as in 'fair' and 'g' as the Spanish 'j') :)
