what do you think about double names, such as mary-kate ann-marie, etc?

I always hated them, but then a few years ago i randomly came up with the name combination Autumn-Leigh or Autumn-Lee, my mother insists this sounds totally trashy, especially compared to my other favourite names (ginevra, lennon, remus), but i love it anyway.

also, i harbor a secret love for the names in the book The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I'd never name my children most of them, but I love them:

Siddalee (F)
Viviane (F)
Baylor (m)
Lulu (F)
Denise (F)
Genevieve (F)
Connor (M)
Jack (M) - I've always loved this name, and John is a family name (most of them go by Jack too), but I'd never use it.
Beau (m)

opinions?

i like autumn, but i don't like autumn-leigh. i think autumn leigh (with leigh as the middle name) is okay, but it's not one i'd combine.

i LOVE the names from divine secrets. baylor, siddalee, and genevieve are my favorites, but i really like lulu's real name (talullah), caro, malissa, etc., too. and shep really grew on me.

I'm not a fan of hyphenated names, but the two middle or first names thing doesn't bug me.

The names in those books were really neat, weren't they? I love Baylor especially, and Caroline (wasn't that Caro's full first name?)

I like hyphenated double names only when they're an unusual match.
call me ridiculous, but for example I like Mary-Kate, after the Olsen twin :P
whereas, Ann-Marie would just be incredibly boring, in my eyes (and to my ears).

I can't say I like Autumn-Lee, mostly because I's say Autumn is overly romantic, sorry :/

I think names with hyphens generally look trashy, like your mom said, unless they are very traditionally hyphenated, like Mary-Anne.

Why not Autumn Leigh?

I just don't like hyphenations. I'd go with Autumn Leigh Lastname and call her Autumn Leigh.

Oh, and I like Leigh over Lee for a girl.

I like it when people go by their first and middle name, but I don't like it when they have two first names or two middle names.

For instance I like Mary Kate if the persons full name is Mary Katherine Lastname.

I loved Siddalee and Baylor from that movie. Southern names can be really great!
