I used to dislike Calvin, but lately it's grown on me, mostly because of the character in 'A Wrinkle in Time', and I love the nickname Cal. But if I ever have a daughter, there's a strong possibility I'll name her Margaret and call her Meg, so having a son called Calvin as well might be a bit much. :-\

Comment too if you want.

All the middle names except Jade, Thomas and Noelle and Faith are family names btw.

Opinions on the name Ken (on a male)?
I'm liking it more and more every day.

also, do you prefer it as a full name, or a nickname for something?

I had some classmates with some names that were unusual. For some, I don't know what their parents were thinking!
My first crush was a guy named Olin Blodgett. I also went to school with a John Lovely who was a short, fat kid with zits and mullet who liked to pick fights with people. Then there were sisters named Lenchen (a German form of Helen) and Kama. Then there were Hollis, Venus, Kami, Hollie-Beth, etc. University brought up some more interesting ones: Antigone, Christelle, Petal, Dagmar (Dasha), Manouschka, Kettiuska, Myntha, Silver, Darwin...

A girl I knew named her daughter Cedar.

Hmm

Some friends of mine in Alabama had a son on Aug 24th...they named him Colorado Blaze...they're calling him Blaze....

The more I think about Blaze, the more I like it but Colorado?? Especially since neither of the parents have any ties to Colorado or anything, it's "just a name they thought went well with Blaze"   Eh...

WDYT?

Sorry, don't have poll capabilities.

Do you like Cory better on a boy or a girl?

We are having a really hard time naming our baby boy. There is nothing we agree on and could use suggestions on names (typically not in baby books since we have gone through all of those). Our first son's name is Cannon James, so we are looking for something a little unusual or uncommon. It also needs to be a non-unisex name. Any ideas?

We had Grayson picked out, but I am hearing it on more girls than boys.

Current name whim: Grace, nickname Gray.
It's a name that's growing on me.

Names I've come across recently:
Antissa
Ave
(as in "Ave Maria" is the famous incipit phrase of a catholic prayer, originally in latin. "Ave" is a latin form of salute, as in "Ave Caesar", prn Ah-vay)
Swami (Swah-mee), sanskrit
Melrose (I'm not sure any of you are familiar with the tv series "Melrose Place", but here in Italy it was kinda popular back in the early 90's)

WDYT?

My husband and I are going to start TTC this fall, and we're thinking of possibly naming the baby after our grandparents, because I lost two grandmothers this summer and he lost his grandfather (all within three months).

His grandpa's middle name was August, which I like, and can obviously be used for a boy or a girl.

My grandma's names were Mildred (Millie) and Edith Jeanette. I've been trying to find names that are a combination of the two (mainly of Millie and Edith or Eddy), but haven't yet found any. I was hoping some of you may have some ideas?

WDYT of...

...Eden for a girl?

Is it pretty?
Is it too trendy?
Would you consider it religious (Garden of Eden)?

I can't decide if I like it or not, but I do think it's pretty.

Ok.....this is scarey.......I was reading the departmental phone list and found this:

LaMont
and
LaMonth

They have the same last name but I don't know if they're related. I have nightmares that they are twins.

I also have a kid named Darwin...I met his parents today and with their accents it comes out d-ARwin instead of DARwin. I loved the way they said it. He has a sister named Yendi, which is growing on me. I like more than Mindy, thats for sure.

There's not been one of these for a while haha!

I don't know know most of my families middle names, and I think I'm freaking my parents out with name questions, so I'll leave it at not knowing!

I know, 1 out of 10 people like my names but don't worry, I at least probably won't have a boy.
