We always hear about the celebrity baby names that are completely off-the-wall, but I found three earlier that I just love. I was on IMBD.com trying to figure out how to spell my favorite actor's wife's last name and I found the names of their kids, which I had actually never heard before.

Bradley Whitford and his wife Jane Kaczmarek have three kids:

Frances
George
Mary Louisa

I think they're adorable and classic. I knew I liked Brad for a reason! ;)

I need suggestions for names that end in -er. I am mostly thinking of boys names here, but I am open to girl's too. My future children's last name is really hard to pair names with but Parker sounds good with it. The only other name I can think of is Potter, which I would be tempted to use but probably wouldn't.

The last entry got me thinking...would you ever use the name of an ex for your child if you really loved it? What if your significant other loved it? Have you ever had a name "ruined" this way? I sure have...

*Edit*Funnily enough, after reading a comment and then trying to open up a new tab for the community, I accidentally went to babynames.com instead and saw a headline for a little girl from Madrid with 25 middle names. :P

Our daughter had a 5-name name. Her first name was Brenna Rose and her middle name was Sherman, after my cat (whhooo morphine), and her last name was our last names hyphenated.
Now, since she didn't have two middle names it didn't seem so bad; we called her both Brenna and Brenna Rose. Anyway, I thought it might be cute to carry on the two-name middle name with all of our kids, but my fiance isn't too hot about it I'm not either really.. just thought it'd be cute.

I've since started teaching (I'm a sub)and oh my god, these kids with these insanely long names are so confused! Maybe it's just an age thing, 3rd grade, but they were filling out these test forms and they kept putting all their names on the forms. This one little girl put like 7 names. And then just all the different two-name names that were long as all hell. One class had three different combinations of Lily Rose(first-last, first-middle, first-secondmiddle.. it was nauseating.

But then of course I have a name that I can't pick a middle name for. I love the name Uilliam, nickname Liam, and I also like Anthony Patrick/Patrick Anthony in honor of closest my maternal uncles. I like Ulliam Anthony Uilliam Anthony Patrick, and Uilliam Patrick Anthony, but not Uilliam Patrick; it's more important that Patrick be used than Anthony, though. Uilliam Edward is a possibility as well.

Anyway,I've also really been pondering the hyphenated name thing because our wedding is coming up and I need to make my decision. (Interestingly, my future mother-in-law told me tonight that it wasn't until she ran for the school board when the kids were older that she dropped the hyphenated part of her last name and just went by her husband name; I find this especially interesting as I was worried I'd get flack for hyphenating and also my fiance's sister is dropping her maiden name and I found it funny that I thought she was copying her mother, trying to be traditional, but her mother wasn't traditional at all. Anywho..). I'd thought for a long time that I wanted to hyphenate mine and our children's because our daughter's is hyphenated and I want us all to share a last name and I feel too uncomfortable to change it posthumously. I am thinking of keeping both my name and his, but not hyphenating and doing the same for our children. Can you even have two last name or would it be a second middle name? What if you already have a second middle name, lol? I'm also thinking of hyphenating, but going by his last name, socially and perhaps professionally, not sure. Anyway.. this is so silly. I really want him to hyphenate too, but he doesn't want to, but he's open to having my name as a second middle name/second last name. He doesn't care if I change my name or not or what our children's names are.. is it silly that I want him to care? Oh well. I've half a mind (not really) to tell him fine, then they all just get my last name. To make matters worse, I've for years wanted to add my mother's maiden name, which she goes by, as a second middle/first last name, and maybe pass that on to my kids instead of my father's name, and I'd planned to before my daughter was born, but then she was premature and it just didn't happen.

Last thing.-- I know there is a trend of old-fashioned names coming in to fashion, but what do you all think of the name Ezel? My Great Aunt Ezel just died and I liked her a lot and I'd like to use a name fro my fatehr's side of the family for at least one of our kids. My other options are Opal and Pearl, but I thought another 'gem' name might be cute. On gem names, my fiance and I like the name 'Prism', which could work to fill that desire. I know, many of you have expressed a distaste for Prism. I like it, but I really didn't think it was going to happen, but whenever we talk names, my fiance just says how much he loves Prism (I came up with it).

And I know some of you hate having last names as first name, I do to a degree myself, but what do you think of the names Kirtley or Spillane as a first name? Spillane could also be a mn for Uilliam-- hit two birds with one stone, since both of my uncles are Spillanes. Kirtley is my future mother-in-law's maiden name, which I think might be interesting on a boy.

My name is simply Lea (LEE-uh). Usually people misspell it Leah, which is understandable. But recently there has been a rash of misspellings of my name (come to think of it, they're all misspellings from my in-law side):

Lia
Leia
Lyea

I'm only confused as to how that "y" got thrown in there since the other spellings are pretty legit too. Still, I can only imagine how many times other names get misspelled when mine is only 3 letters long.

Of course you're welcome to share how your name has been butchered :)

it's a guilty pleasure that i'm kind of a fan of those southern-tradition hyphenated first names.  anyone think i'm crazy or that it's a horrible thing to do to a child in the south?

hello all : ) i am new here, first off. My name is Kat.

I have sort of an interesting situation, but no time to explain. My boyfriend and I are planning a pregnancy, Due to my health issues we can't afford to wait until later in life. We want to start trying in December. We've been looking at names lately and i just want some in put : ) (If you'd like the whole "interesting story" just comment and i'll write it all here later. )

First off, For a boy I really like Maddox. Although i can't find a middle name that i like with it.
For a girl, i think we've decided on Karson or Karsen with middle name Rae. 2nd comes Willa Marie 3rd is Lilly Anne-Marie.

Thoughts! Please!

Thanks: )

ok, so the name that came to me in a dream wasn't such a big hit, and i completely see the point about how "Tara-Rae" and the double 'ra-ra' makes things difficult.

but i liked both those names seperate, and decided to try and find some other combos that might be better.

WYT? )

are there any others y'all can think of that use one of those names at least?

I live in New Zealand and work in an area where lots of children have these names. Some might seem a bit difficult to pronounce, but you say them pretty much as they are written.

Here are the names and their translations!

The wife of the mayor of my city gave birth to a daughter this morning. They named her Sienna Cedar Francis. Francis is the last name, I have no idea where Cedar comes from. The only thing I can think of is that he's Lebanese, so maybe that's his way of paying tribute...? Or I could be completely wrong, and they just thought Cedar sounded like a neat name. XD

What do you think?

My boyfriend and I have made a permanent decision on the baby's name if we have a girl. It's Harley Emerson Lloyd.

We're having a bit more trouble deciding on a boys name.
I want : John Hendrix Lloyd
He wants : John Skylar Lloyd or John Carson Lloyd

The boy would be going by his middle name, the girl by her first. Any thoughts?
