My boyfriend and I have made a permanent decision on the baby's name if we have a girl. It's Harley Emerson Lloyd.

We're having a bit more trouble deciding on a boys name.
I want : John Hendrix Lloyd
He wants : John Skylar Lloyd or John Carson Lloyd

The boy would be going by his middle name, the girl by her first. Any thoughts?

I second the thoughts on masculinity.
I think it's a really great name, but doesn't make me think "girl".

Among Skylar, Hendrix and Carson, I'd go with Skylar.
Although Skyler would be more masculine.

I think Skylar is a girls name

it's used on boys, too... i actually know 3 boys named Skylar/Skyler & only 1 (4yr old) girl Skylar.

wait, Schulyer Fisk (is that her name?!) is Sissy Spacek's daughter. so i know of 2 girls lol

i think harley is cute but harley and emerson are two very masculine names for a girl. would you ever consider giving it to a boy instead?

Did you guys notice that her initials spell HEL? I mention it only 'cause kids can be cruel...

well sure, but that doesn't mean you should give the other kids any ammunition. i actually don't think the initials are going to be a problem, and in this day and age, the name itself won't stick out the way it might have thirty years ago. so go for it.

Are you fans of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and Jimi Hendrix?? Just wondering.
I wouldn't go for Harley at all...it is masculine and I have only heard it for a dog's name (so far). Skylar is more feminine too. I agree on that one. Maybe if you switched the names?
Maybe they are just my style.

My vote is for John Hendrix. I also like Harley Emerson. I think it is original and balanced :)

Harley sounds like a pet's name. My girlfriend has a dog named Harley. How about Emerson Harley? That way, she can go by Emmy or something more girly.

I like John. That's our first choice for a boy as well. I don't really care for any of the middle names, though Carson is probably the least bad.

I really think that parents now a days are naming their kids all these "unique" names will end up finding 3 other kids in the Kindergarten class with those names.

I really like your girls name - I have a very masculine first name, and I love it :D plus, I actually think both names sound quite feminine - like, if you didn't know that they were boys names and someone told you about them, you wouldn't instantly think they were male names. People will very easily accept your daughters name as feminine when they know her.

I love Harley, it makes me think of Harley Quinn from Batman. I'm not too keen on the double "masculine" names just because your daughter might like having a feminine name in there as a back up? I don't like Skylar on a boy let alone girl... I love Hendrix because if they go mainstream on you and become a lawyer or something they could go by Henry, haha, and otherwise it's just badass :)

Oh, and it's funny 'cause all the men in my family are John ___ Johnsons so I totally understand that concept :)

Harley Emerson sounds like a boy's name so you could use that no matter what the sex!

I like Hendrix the best of the middle names but the kid has to be cool as hell to pull it off.
