misspellings
Jun. 27th, 2007 08:34 amMy name is simply Lea (LEE-uh). Usually people misspell it Leah, which is understandable. But recently there has been a rash of misspellings of my name (come to think of it, they're all misspellings from my in-law side):
Lia
Leia
Lyea
I'm only confused as to how that "y" got thrown in there since the other spellings are pretty legit too. Still, I can only imagine how many times other names get misspelled when mine is only 3 letters long.
Of course you're welcome to share how your name has been butchered :)

Date: 2007-06-27 04:18 pm (UTC)my name is Shanna (pn: Shan-nah)-
It is ususally misspelt as Shana/Shawnah
It is usually mispronounced as
Shawn-nah or Shane-ah
To this day. A few people I used to work will can not pronounced my name right. They always call me Shawn-nah
I don't think Shanna is that hard lol
as for Lea..I usually see it with an H so i get that one but the rest..idk

Date: 2007-06-27 06:25 pm (UTC)However, I recently was with a friend named Madeline at a store and watched the salesgirl write: "Maddlyn" on her order. We were both very surprised to see that particular guess at how to spell Madeline. It seemed far more contrived than the actual name is.

Date: 2007-06-29 04:50 am (UTC)I've had a great range of prounciations from teachers over the years based on the unconventional spelling of my name: Martin-ah, Marty (blergh!) Mih-tee-nah, Marty-nah, Martin, Ma-tie-nah, Martini. I'm not afraid to correct people either and I'll continue correcting them until they get it right! hehe :D
