My husband to be and I have our top 2 agreed upon girls names. But now that he has gotten his coveted full time placement and the dream of kids seems more imminent I am making a list of other girls names I like as well (fiance really wants a girl).
Top 2 (names that we compromised to agree upon):
Eleanor Freya
Mia Simone
Other girls names I like:
Alice
Violet
Lily
Lila (LIE-la)
Iris
Cordelia
Hannah
Seraphina
Sophie
Charlotte
Willa

Alice - A lot of people like this name, but not me
Violet - cute, but a bit trendy
Lily - Lovely
Lila (LIE-la) - I realy like this name, but I always think of Sweet Valley High
Iris - cute
Cordelia - sweet. I like the nn you can derive: Delia, Lia, Deli, etc
Hannah - meh. I notice this is the only Hebrew name you've included....
Seraphina - A bit much
Sophie - nms
Charlotte - Lovely
Willa - kinda old

Date: 2007-06-27 11:02 pm (UTC)I first heard of Lila reading the Sweet Valley High books as a teen actually.
Oh and I do like alot of Hebrew girls names (Hadassah, Adara, Aviva, Shoshana, Avra, Talia, Devorah, Levana etc) but every name of that strain I mention to my fiance he either says is "too Jewish" and/or it reminds him of the "Jappy" (Jewish American Princess) girls he went to high school with. So I've given up. Actually one of the reasons I like like Eleanor though, is that "Elinor" is a Hebrew name that means "God is my light".

heehee I guess I do like flower names, I didn't notice when I was typing them that 3 of those names are flowers.

Date: 2007-06-27 06:12 pm (UTC)Mia Simone on the other hand sound harmonious together, although I like Mia but not Simone.

Date: 2007-06-27 11:07 pm (UTC)I told him I didn't like them together because Eleanor is classic and elegant, whereas Freya seems more earthy and hippy to me. But he said that that was why he liked the together because he wants his daughter to be both classic and elegant and earthy and hippyish.
And really it makes him so happy and it's only a middle name so I gave in.

Date: 2007-06-27 08:01 pm (UTC)The rest of your names are gorgeous, with the possible exception of Serafina. It just seems like she would end up being called Sera, and that's pretty plain.
I really like Alice as well. So uncommon, but so well known.
