I've been thinking about naming tradtions/trends lately... and in my family there really isnt any.

For awhile on my dad's side what they did with baby boys was give them a name, of their own, then for middle names they would have their father's and paternal grandfather's name so there's:
Ryan John Gerritt
Jason Peter Gerritt
Derek John Bernard
and after that the trend sorta died but it was almost revived with my little cousin who was named William Gerritt (after both the grandfathers)

My mom sort of did the same thing with me: i was named Jennifer after my Grandmother (Jenny-her original dutch name was Jantje) and then she wanted to name me after herself but 'Jennifer Joanne' doesnt have a nice ring to it so she kep the 'anne' and Jennifer Rose-Anne I became.

In my friend's family her parents gave both their kids the same initials as they have, so the parents names are June and Edward (Ted)  and then they gave the kids their middle names so they are Jennifer Mary and Eric Wade.

What are some naming tradtions your family has?

We have this woman who calls up our company every now and then, and her name is Tricki. Obviously there is no way this could be her realy name (unless her mum was in labour for like 40 hours, and then had to go in for a caesar [birth, not salad], or the baby was breach and therefore had a "tricky" birth)...

Can anyone shed any light on what her full name might be. My boss suggested Patricia...

I was just watching the Simple Life, and I heard Paris say that she was going to name her kids 'London & China'. I hope she was kidding, but some part of me thinks she wasn't. What do you think of a family all with place names? Seems weird to me. I'm not a fan of place names at all though.

I read through a list of baby names recently and came across Sailor Lee(f). I don't know why but Sailor seems really cute to me, I like it alot.

someone posted about sibling names. and it made me laugh, because i always get comments about my sisters and my names...

cybelle.
giselle.
arielle.

we live on a street called isobell.

god bless my parents.

But. I feel like they shouldn't... clash, at the very least.  SO on that note, this baby's siblings are Logan and Amelia.
Our top considerations at the moment are Arielle if it's a girl, and Declan if it's a boy.  I know some of you don't care for these names, but how do they sound with my other kids names?

Any mn suggestions would be helpful, especially for Arielle since for the first time in my life, I can't come up with a single thing I really like for either.  I think the baby's just eating my brain.  And just think, I have like 33 more weeks to obsess over the name! yay!   (but only about 13 until I can potentialy find out if it's a boy or girl, so I can narrow the obsessing down to one gender at least.)

Here are the lists of boy and girl names that I like. Not in any special order. However, I do have two favorites, Emily & Michael. The only thing I dislike about those two names is that they are very common.

wdyt of these names...not necessarily my favorites....all girl names

Carlie
Marjorie
Lealoni
Jaliz
Martina
Jennda

**EDIT**
just so you know where these came from (but still feel free to comment)
Carlie - my name (which I never liked as a child but am finally growing into, even though I am frequently called "Charlie" - which is my dad's name, i'm named for him)
Marjorie - my middle name (and my mom's and grandma's, but i'm not interested in continuing it. I def. prefer it as a first name, nn Meg)
Lealoni - I knew a girl who spelled her name like this. Leilani is prettier, I agree
Jaliz - I had a student with this name, prn Juh-leese even though it was Hispanic
Martina - a name I just kinda like
Jennda - I had a dream that my ex-fiance had a daughter with this name and it was just bizarre!
