So here are the birth announcements I found on a website for a town's paper, where I went to college.  There aren't many as the town has only 5,000 people, 2,000 of which are students.

Joshua Robert
Susan Elaine
Abby Jo
Adyson Kate
Grayson Dean

One or both of Adyson's parents must be Grey's/Private Practice/Kate Walsh fans, but I can't blame them, as I am too, although would never actually use names from there.

I've done an almost complete name list, what do you think? My biggest problem is getting combinations that work well, and flow with the two children we have now (Owen and Alexandra). Franklin/Francine is most likely to be used next (It is my grandfather's name) and David/Davidyah is going to be the second middle/honouring name.

Boys list

Franklin
Nat(h)aniel (debating the h, without is more traditional)
Simon
Conrad
Theodor
Edmond
Zachary
Liviu or Livius
Monte
Stellen

Hebrew name/first middle name ideas: Reuel, Zadok, Admiel, Asiel, Neriah, Ittai, Meged, Uziel, Hoshea, Shimon,

Honouring name/second middle name ideas: David, Nelson, Elinatan (if Nat(h)aniel isn't used), Theodor (if not used for first name), Walker

Francine
Vivienne
Emmeline
Winifred
Mirabelle
Irena
Tilda or Tilia
Netaniela
Halina

Hebrew name/first middle name ideas: Serach, Yitra, Shifa, Netaniela. Nehira, Nasyah, Naamah/Naami, Shifra, Nurita, Amaliah, Zerizah, Varidya, Besora, Zakiya

Honouring name/second middle name ideas: Davidyah, Josabeth, Nialla, Walker, Adora/Olivine, Natanela, Walker

A coworkers sister had a baby boy - Beau Ethan

Also - today at work I served a couple who were talking about their grandson, the lady told me that his name is Jack Daniel. She seemed pretty amused by it. Apparently the parents were really keen on the name Jack, and Daniel is his fathers name...so they overlooked certain other connotations.

So I'm home sick with the flu today, and I've been going through my name lists and trying to decide what kind of people would have such names. [I know we often say that a name seems pretentious, or doesn't age well etc etc etc.)

So what names for both males and females, do you associate with the following categories?

Snobby/Pretentious:

Old/dated:

Young/Immature:

Classic/Timeless

Unusual/'Out there':

Sophisticated/Classy:

Educated/Intelligent/Successful:

Modern/Cool (Not necessarily 'trendy'):

Trashy/Cheap (I couldn't think of a more eloquent way of putting this):

I know it's strange becasue usually people want middle name help... Any good first names to go with Clara as a middle name? And I do mean Clara not Claire/Clare which I really dislike.

There are three customers I have that are having babies (or their wives are). These are the names they've picked out, all will be the first children born, so no sibs.

Sabina Genevieve (they know it is a girl, prn Sa-bee-na Jen-a-veeve)

The other two don't know what they are having:

Cole Daniel or Sarah Eve

Francesco (Frank) or Francesca (after the husband, who is obviously Francesco lol)

Layla Katelyn
Caitlin Isabelle

Be brutally honest! If you don't like what I've listed, please suggest something that is both familiar and feminine. I already have a daughter named Chloe Paige, so I don't want something too different in style. Katelyn/Caitlin/Kaitlyn will definitely be part of the new baby's name.

I found this on Wikipedia today, and thought it might interest some of you...:

Many Spanish names can be shortened into hypocoristic forms using a diminutive suffix, especially -(c)ito/a. Names can be somewhat more arbitrary. The use of each of these forms varies a lot between countries and regions, to the point that some of them are very common in some countries and unheard of in some other countries. A list of common (and not so common) names and their shortened forms:

So I thought I would ask you all the question I ask nearly every one of my friends and family members..

My husband's maternal grandfather was named Jack. He was a huge influence in my husband's life and he has always wanted to name our son Jack, but felt he couldn't with his last name. His last name is Hoffman.. So our son would be named Jack Hoffman. I absolutely love the name Jack, but I can understand how this name could lead to teasing and wouldn't want my child to go through that. So what do you think? Would that be irresponsible to name our child this?? I wonder if in say ten years the slang would even still exist? I'm not sure. Tell me what you think!

TIA!

Opinions?

I meant to join like AGES ago but kept forgetting to xD

But anyway yes I'm new xD I love names, and even though I'm not anywhere near having a child (I'm single lmao), I still like thinking of names for my future children.

My name is Megan btw, middle name Sarah. I don't like it AT ALL, it's too common. Mum & Dad told me Megan wasn't common when I was born (1987), but now I know like five Megan's. And it's funny cos my Mum's name is Margaret and I read that Megan is a variant of Margaret xD And my Dad's name is Mike, so all M's xD

I just wanted to get your opinion on a couple and list my fave names.

My cousin is having a baby in less then two weeks, but she doesn't know the sex. If it's a girl though, her name will be Imara. What do you guys think? Personally, I LOVE it. It's pretty, feminine and it's also one of my fave characters from the Weather Warden book series by Rachel Caine. If it's a boy, he will be called Shawn, which I also love.

And my stepsister has three kids - two boys and a girl, ages 12, 3 and 1. Their names are Johnson, Elijah and Chance. What do you think? Their name ends with 'son' so the oldest is Johnson ___son, poor kid >_>

But here's my lists... under the cut...

Names! )

BORED. I've been messing around with name combos. I know my favorites aren't the style of most, but I welcome any suggestions or new ideas for combos. If you have any questions about pronounciation, just ask and I'll try:)

WDYT of the name Hope?

I think it's pretty and old fashioned without being outdated. It's such an interesting sound, too! It reminds me of the Emily Dickinson poem, Hope is a thing with feathers...

For nicknames I would probably use Hopie, but it's not really a name that needs a nickname, so it would be more of an endearment. For a middle name I would probably use Catherine, so Hope Catherine V______.
