I have always thought of it as a girls name but my best friend's father is Robin (and I call him that) so now I can go either way.

interestingly it's split across the atlantic for me. (like so many things *sigh)

in the usa i would assume robin is a female.
in the uk (and anywhere else) i'd assume it's a male.

It's one of the few names that I like pretty much equally on both males and females. I think I would probably assume it's a girl if I saw the name in writing or something first.

While the nationality thing makes sense, I also think of it as an age thing. If I knew the person was around my age or a little younger, I would assume female, but if they were from my parents generation I would think it was a man.
