The most exotic name you ever heard, for a girl?

mine was: Serpentine

what are your thoughts on naming themes? I hate alliteration, whether its naming your kids kevin katherine and kelly, or if its joseph jenkins or sidney sebold, however, i love other naming themes, for instance naming your kids after your favourite authors, or book characters, biblical names, or musicians. opinions?

Also, I've listed some of my other name-theme lists before (Harry Potter, Rockstars, Fitzgeralds Characters), so heres my latest:
Francesca Lia Block Characters Names

I don't know how many of you have heard of FLB, but she write beautiful, ethereal novels, and uses some interesting names (often word names), some I love, some I don't like, and some I like but wouldn't actually use, so here's a short list of all of the above.

Boys

Lex
West
Smoke
Raphael
Valentine
Rafe
Paul
Dionisio
Dirk
Duck
Jack
Griffin

Girls

Marina
Ruby
Echo
Eden
Lillian
Cherokee
Snow
Barbie
Vixanne
Fifi
Primavera
Weetzie
Tuck
Winnie
Laurel
Claudia
Sylvie
Beauty

realistically, i'd probably only use Lex, West, Marina, Griffin, Ruby, Lillian, Winnie, Laurel, Jack, Sylvie, or Eden, but i really like some of the others too.

I really wanted to share some of the new names from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows with everyone. Since this post is very spoilerific, I've kept it under a cut for those who haven't finished reading the book yet. It would be great if others would also keep anything Deathly Hallows-related under wraps as well.

Anyway.. onto the names )

I'm from an area of Indiana that is somewhat... lower class. Not the whole area, but there are pockets of people who really love Wal-Mart and REALLY wish Billy Ray Cyrus would make a comeback so they'd have an excuse to break out their fringed, beaded and airbrushed "Achy Breaky Heart" shirt.

Oh, who am I kidding? They don't need an excuse.

Anyway, I was browsing around on MySpace, looking at profiles of people from my hometown, and came across some "perdyful" names they came up with for their kee-ids and grandbabies.

((Just for the record, I think all of these are absolutely horrible.))

Treasure Dawn
Trinitee
Trysten (male)
Koda (female)
Carleigh Angel
Caydan Joeseph
Chealsey Breighann
Dreydyn Ryan Stephen
Elera Elise
Zyan (male)

After Dreydyn and Zyan, my brain hurts too much to look for any more.

ETA:

Kaizer (Soze?)
Kolton
KeShavon (!:@!#K!$H)
Kindia
Nyssa
Xxzaien (No, folks, I'm not kidding.)

a recent post reminded me of this sibling set I've herd recently:

Trinity, Hannah, Patrick.

I'm wondering what happened to her taste between #1 and #2.

Evie

I think the name Evie for a girl is adorable. However, I do not picture it on an adult. So, I would only use it as a nickname for someone, that way they could have the alternative to go by a full name when they are older if they would like.
However, I am not a fan of the name Evelyn, even though I love the nickname Evie

My question is...what other names besides Evelyn could I use the nickname Evie for? What do you think of it?

Thanks

Hi. I'm new to the community and thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Brianna. I'm 21. I have a hubby and an almost 8 month old son named Gavin. I just found out yesterday that another one's on the way (due late March or early April... according to all online calculations, it's April 3rd, but I'll wait for the doc to give me it officially). My husband and I want to keep naming our kids Gaelic names, so I thought it'd be interesting to join and read what other parents are thinking about naming their kid.

If Gavin was a girl he would have been either Bronwynn Mharie or Guinevere Daenerys.

Good evening! Its been a while, but my little notebook of interesting names is filling up so I thought I share. I'll warn you, its a long list and not for the faint of heart.....

*Edit* This is not a list of names I'd consider for my future children...its more of a freak show....

[identity profile] requiem-morrow.livejournal.com
I've spent the last few weeks playing the alphabet name game with baby name sites. That said, these are names I like, not all are necessarily names I'd give my children. Please be warned, I like surname names and occassionally intergendered names (boy names on girls, girl names on boys). Its a huge list so I'm starting with A and B.

Thoughts?
