Are there any names in the top 25 that you adore?
Names that you wish you could name your kids, but wont because of the popularity?

Noah, Tyler & Logan - boys

Ava & Isabella - girls

Hi everyone, I just found this community a couple days ago and I love it. I want to start off by telling you my name, its Catherine Ruthe, and my last name has 4 syllables. I go by the nick name of Cathie.

Catherine meaning "Pure" and Ruthe meaning friendship. Ruthe is pronounced Ruth.

I was just wondering what you thought of my name, I think its pretty simple, but I have come to love it now.

I run an after school program and most of my children have "normal" names, but some of their parents are a different story.

Two that I adore are
Dessy and Lysander. Both are women.
Dessy, if I remember correctly, is named after her father. Its a shortening of his name or something.
I know that Lysander is a masculine name, but I think its beautiful and it suits her.

I do have one boy named Shea and the kids call him "Shea Stadium" but he's a Mets fan, so he doesn't mind.

Native Names/Names with Meaning

So I know I'm having a baby. I'm not going to name it until I see it. But i would like some ideas first. I like natural names like Rain, Fox, Lily. Names with meaning behind them too.
My boyfriend is Native Candian-Mi'kmaq and I'm of Spanish/French Decent. I really like Mi'kmaq names. Such as Wowkwis(Fox)pron. Wow-Gwis, Muin(bear)pron Moo-in, Pasmay(Peter) pron. Pas-a-meye.
His last name is Knockwood so keep that in mind. I really like the suggestion of tree names but Cedar Knockwood would sound like a cruel joke.
Also, Tradition is not too stong in the Mi'Kmaq culture for naming. Most Mi'Kmaq people nowadays have English names.
So help me get some ideas with meaning behind them!
Thank you in advance.
^.^

PS no B names we are both Bs and his son is a B. I really hate when familys do that.

Z names

I've been thinking a lot about 'Z' names lately because they are hard to find. as such, I decided to list a few I've heard of... feel free to add/comment/etc

Zachariah #
Zachary/Zachery
Zac/Zack/Zach
Zaden
Zathan
Zen #
Zoren
Zane/Zayne
Zeus
Zeb #
Zebediah
Zepher
Zylar

Zoe/Zoey #
Zena
Zari #
Zara/Zarah
Zariah
Zilli

The ones I don't mind are marked with an (#) I have no 'Z' names on my list, but my childhood bear that still sits on my bed was named Zoey =D

EDIT: I just noticed how most of these are attempts at being 'cr8tyve' way of using an original name, such as Sarah/Zarah

I haven't posted my favorite names in awhile. I was going through my list with my fiance last night and 50% of the names he hates and the other 50% he thinks are "alright". So the following is my list. ~ means that he thinks it's "ok" :) His last name is Ronan btw. Suggestions are welcome! (I forgot to cut this so I deleted the original!)

My Name Lists! )

Boy or Girl

I love the name, Brennan, for a girl. Everyone's brothers wife's cousin's monkey's uncle is naming their boy Brennan though.

What gender do you like it for, if you like it at all?

Name Help!

I'm pregnant with my second child, which happens to be another boy. My first born is Leo Kalani (almost 3 years old).. I am rooting for Gavin Kainoa and my husband is rooting for Duke Kapono... What do you think?

I work for the local newspaper where I occasionally I get to post birth announcements. Today was:

Jazlyn Gabby.

We were joking around saying it was a stripper name. If we added a last name like, Sunrise, she would be all set for the adult movie industry...'Jazlyn Sunrise in her XXX debut...'

*gags*

College paper

My friend wrote a paper about naming traits in different age groups.

When I asked Easton's dad to remind me what we discussed for possible girls names... he reminded me that we really didn't discuss it.

If it was up to him, he would have named her Nike.

OMG... Nike Cook.

*puke*

States as names?

I thought of this today after having two hours of extra band rehearsal.

A girl in my section in band is named Montana. I believe I've heard the name elsewhere also, but it got me thinking.

Ever hear of anyone named after a state?

HELP!

So I may be adopting this handsome young fella' in the near future (fingers crossed that everything falls into place with where I'm going to school/living/etc).

...And he needs a new name.

Heeeeeere's Johnny! )

Well... I was thinking about some uncommon names of people I've known during my highschool time and came up with these:

Names )

What do you think of them? Some of them might be common in other countries but aren't in Germany where I live. Some are common here but not elsewhere. So... opinions?
Personally I really like Darinka and Marita, and Derya isn't bad, either :>
