I just purchased Hawksley burns for Isadora by Hawksley Workman. My boyfriend and I are huge fans of Hawskley's music and want to somehow get him to play our first dance song at our wedding. He's like a big thing for us. So I was looking at the title and thinking "Isadora hmm I think I kind of like it..."
This is probably the closest I'd ever get to naming a future kid for a song or musician but:
What do you think of Isadora?

I'm kinda glad most people didn't like the name Lyrica because it is an anti-anxiety prescription drug I was taking for awhile.  It kind of sounded like a name so I thought I'd ask.

ok so i was reading some other posts, and i remember these, and was horrified!

one of my ex roomates(who i dislike with a passion) had always told us that when she had a daughter, she was going to name her

Emma Lee ..... o_O

then after my ex and i split up i was talking to this guy, who was nice enough, but as soon as he told me what he planned to name his *future* daughter, i quit talking to him all together

his name of choice? Heaven Lee ...his last name is Johnson ....no thank you, FAR to many reasons all in one name, NOT to name any daughter that.

so, am i the only one who finds both these names equally disturbing?

[Poll #804833]

Thanks!

ETA: Curious, I looked it up in Webster's to see if they had the thing you can listen to, and they do. Both pronunciations they have are different than the one I use and have always heard. Hmmm... LOL!

If you listen, please do it AFTER doing the poll. I want honesty, not cheating. :)

I'd posted a while back asking for name suggestions for my kitten. My roommates and I didn't even settle on anything until about a week ago.

Meet KARLY... )

We decided on the name Karly because one of our favorite groups/bands is SHeDAISY, and one of the sister's names is Karli. We spelled it Karly so that it would be a tribute to another favorite band, Little Big Town, whose two girl members are Karen amd Kimberly. And we got all silly and cutesy and stuff and gave her a last name - Sweetbrook - after the two male members of Little Big Town (Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook). We told the members of Little Big Town about our cat's name. They were very much amused. Oh, and we're TOTAL nerds and gave her the middle name Emerson, after our OTHER favorite band, Emerson Drive. So, her whole name is Karly Emerson Sweetbrook.

In case anyone was curious about what had come of that. :)

My husband and I were talking today and we were talking about people who name their kids after a family memeber or use a parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt's name for a first or middle name and then regret it later on? Did that make sense? What was the name and why.

For us it was the name Michael.....which has now been changed to Nathaniel. My husband has adopted my son (our son now) and his biological father's name was Michael. Also my husband's dad's name is Michael and they are both total douches. Any body else?

What about Ariel--other than the Little Mermaid association, thanks!---and how would you change it up, if at all, so that it didn't constantly remind you of The Little Mermaid?

hey folks!

so we found out we are having another boy! I am so excited but boys nmaes are much harder for me and the hubs to come up with. My first son's name is Morgan Malachy Alastair and we are more than likely going ot name the next boy Seamus but I am having trouble with middle names. My husband really likes Seamus Patrick which I do as well but we will be doing two middle names so I have to find another that seems to fall into place lol. I don't mind Seamus something patrick or taking out patrick entirely but I am not a fan of overly trendy names and I hate names that have messed up spellings. actually I hate trendy names lol. My husband is irish and our last name is Carroll. I am half scottish half german so we are more thank likely sticking to those types of names but I have a soft spot for sascha and some eastern european names. anyways thanks guys!!

What do you think of Wyatt Jethro? Wyatt because its my favorite boys name, Jethro to honor my fathers (his MN).

Then, what would you use for a middle name with Elisha? **Edit**For a boy. Elisha's a male name...

(One more!) I need variations of the names Joanne and Lee. I want a couple names I can use as middle names to honor my mother, but I don't like either of her names enough to use them as is. The first names I'm leaning towards the most are Lillian, Evelyn, Amelia, Juliet, and Charlotte, so any combinations you can come up with with those as FNs would be appreciated. :) **Edit - I'm looking for variations on Joanne, then seperate variations on Lee. Not the two of them combined :)

Hm... I think thats all for now :)

Okay, based on a convo I just had with [livejournal.com profile] grypx...

How do you pronounce Sarah? It happens to be my name. I thought it was just a standard, normal pronunciation, but apparently not.

I have always heard it (my whole life and referring to anyone else with the name) as sair-uh - the first syllable rhyming with hair.

You?

Myles?

I was delighted to hear that my SIL had just given birth to a son and that she had named him Miles. But, when I got to the hospital, I was surprised to see that she was spelling it Myles.

I don't dig the spelling; but, I think the name is nice enough. What do you think?

I don't care if you think Winifred is the worst name in the whole world to you, it's my favorite, I'm just having trouble with a middle name. Which do you like best?
