What do you think?

I think it is the ugliest effing name I've ever seen.

I just saw a baby on t.v. named Roman. I couldn't decide at first if I liked it or not, but I think its cute now. I have always liked Rowan and this is sort of similar. WDYT?

So re-watching the movie by the same name has rekindled my love for Matilda: thoughts on this name? Nicknames/middles? The fairy princess inside of me likes Tilly, but I think Mattie would be a more acceptable modernization. For middles, I like J names like Juliet and Jane, but open to all suggestions. =)

(Also, hi to those who remember me. Yes, I am still around!)

Eeek.

Does anyone know any good Pagan/Wiccan names? I had a really hard time finding a decent website. Everything I found was a little too 'hippy' and out there. Any suggestions?

I'm having a really hard time decieding on a name for a boy and I'm due within a month. I'm Irish, my boyfriend's Italian. I'm Wiccan so I was hoping to find a name that reflects on my heritage or my religion (baby's getting his last name and he's picking the middle name, so the first name is alll me :] )

And I'm so sick of baby name websites. I think I might just lose my mind. This kid don't get a name haha. ;]

a local parenting magazine did a story about a local family with 10 kids. the names are a mix of normal, trendy, and craptastic spelling. don't cry too much.

it's 3 boys and 7 girls:
Brendan
Lauren
Kylee
twins: Cascidy and Clayre
Magdalene
McKenna
twins: Owen and Colin
Abaigeal

none of those are typos.

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have had their second child: a daughter named Vida. Their first kid is a boy, Levi.

I really like Levi. I've never really thought about Vida, but it sounds pretty. WDYT?

Oh, and just for a point of reference, Matthew McConaughey's brother named his son Miller Lyte, so either Matthew has much better taste or Camila is vetoing all his options.

Braelyn Kylie

Thoughts? I'll be darned if Kylie isn't growing on me, but I don't like the spelling--I prefer Kiley. As for Braelyn...um, no thanks.

okay, it seems like there are more and more of these posts, but i really do need help with it!!

my grandmother, one of my best friends in the entire world, most meaningful and influential women in my life and my husband's life for the 3 years he knew her, died in May '08. Her name was Linda Adelle.

I want to honor her in my daughter's name, but i cant come up with anythingggg.... Adelle is out (my aunt named her daughter Maya Adelle, after her grandmother, my grandmothers mom.) Honestly, i'm not a huge fan of Linda as a first name, so I'd love to use it as a middle name... i have wracked my brain, talked to family, looked at sites, and i cant come up with any good name as a first name with Linda as a middle name!!!

help? anyone? any ideas? ANYTHING? it's driving me ape-shit that i cant think of ANYTHING.

EDIT: I'm not really looking for a variation of Linda, i really want to use "Linda" as a middle name. And, although I do like it, I'm not going to use Adelle or any variation of it :/ Thanks for the suggestions so far though!

EDIT #2: My naming style is pretty classic... i like 'girly' names. Olivia, Amelia, Vivian, Evelyn, Dawn, Wendy... the ONLY variation i could consider is "Lindy", but my husband is none-too-fond of it :P I also generally stay away from ethnic-sounding names. The only ethnic-side i'd go for is something Irish/Celtic, otherwise American/English.

Young and the Restless actors had a baby, Georgia March joining older brothers Thaddeus Rowe and August Manning.

There was a post a few days ago about the name Matilda, after the character from the book, and I'm wondering what you all think of names from children's books. Maybe it's just me and my literary nerdiness, but I think it would be awesome to be able to give my child a book that they're named after. I mean, what better way to encourage a love of reading?

The ones I would consider:

Matilda - from Matilda
James - from James and the Giant Peach
Harriet - from Harriet the Spy
Alexander - from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Max - from Where the Wild Things Are
Olivia - from Olivia
Arthur - from the Arthur series
Amelia - from Amelia Bedelia
Charlie - from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Madeline - from Madeline
Peter - from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

What about you? Which names would you use? Would you ever actually name your kids a name from a children's book? What about literary names in general?
