I just saw a baby on t.v. named Roman. I couldn't decide at first if I liked it or not, but I think its cute now. I have always liked Rowan and this is sort of similar. WDYT?

It sounds like a soap opera character to me.

It is, lol, and that's actually the comment I was going to make. Roman, been on Days of our Lives for as long as I know.

I know a guy named Roman. He's twenty-eight and either Polish or German. I thought it was a kind of interesting name, though I would never use it myself.

My step-nephew is named Roman because he was conceived in Rome.

I love my steps and I love the kids, but frankly it makes me feel the name is kind of a gimmick.

I think Roman and Rowan sound similar but are really different naming styles. Roman is hard, Rowan is soft.

Seconded. I like both names but they are very different.

I remember Debra Messing from Will & Grace named her son Roman.

Reminds me of Roman Polanski, the child rapist.

This.

If it weren't for this association, I think I would like it.

I know a guy named Roman and I've always liked it. I've always thought of it as very masculine.

It's very common in my generation where I live, but I've never really thought about it. I wouldn't use it myself, but it's okay I guess.

There was a boy at my church named Roman. His parents adopted him from somewhere Eastern European and I'm not sure if they picked the name or if it was already in place. It didn't seem weird or anything.

I knew a guy in high school named Roman. He was a nice kid, so I've always rather liked the name.

It's okay, I guess, though I do prefer Rowan.

Roman is kind of a name I have "grown into." When I was younger I thought it was horrid. Now I think it's ok. However, Roman Polanski is the first thing I thought of, which is a shame.

I associate Roman pretty much exclusively with a character from Days of Our Lives, the soap my mom watched when I was growing up. Fortunately, I always liked Roman, so I like the name. To me it speaks of honor and integrity and an iron jaw. :) It seems like a weirdly heavy name to put on a kid, but I guess he'd grow into it.
