okay, it seems like there are more and more of these posts, but i really do need help with it!!

my grandmother, one of my best friends in the entire world, most meaningful and influential women in my life and my husband's life for the 3 years he knew her, died in May '08. Her name was Linda Adelle.

I want to honor her in my daughter's name, but i cant come up with anythingggg.... Adelle is out (my aunt named her daughter Maya Adelle, after her grandmother, my grandmothers mom.) Honestly, i'm not a huge fan of Linda as a first name, so I'd love to use it as a middle name... i have wracked my brain, talked to family, looked at sites, and i cant come up with any good name as a first name with Linda as a middle name!!!

help? anyone? any ideas? ANYTHING? it's driving me ape-shit that i cant think of ANYTHING.

EDIT: I'm not really looking for a variation of Linda, i really want to use "Linda" as a middle name. And, although I do like it, I'm not going to use Adelle or any variation of it :/ Thanks for the suggestions so far though!

EDIT #2: My naming style is pretty classic... i like 'girly' names. Olivia, Amelia, Vivian, Evelyn, Dawn, Wendy... the ONLY variation i could consider is "Lindy", but my husband is none-too-fond of it :P I also generally stay away from ethnic-sounding names. The only ethnic-side i'd go for is something Irish/Celtic, otherwise American/English.

No help really, but I've been having fun using this website. You type in the middle name, last name, and gender and then they'll give you first name suggestions.

I really like the idea of sort of combining the two for Adeline, or using a name similar to Linda, like Linden or Linnaea.

I don't know if you ever discussed this with your grandmother but you could always name her one of your grandmothers favorite names. I think that would be equally honoring IMO. Or a Linda variation like Lindee?

Linda has always been one of my favorite names. In fact, my #1 combination for girls is Stacey Linda. I think almost any name ending with an "ee" sound would go well with Linda as a middle.

Heh, sorry, I know you said you weren't keen on Linda as a first name. It does seem to be easier to find middle names for it rather than first names--I can see why it's tough! Hopefully these have been of some help, good luck!

How about Linelle for a combo of both Linda and Adelle?

Let's see... this is mostly going down my own name list, with a few others thrown in.

Abigail Linda
Adrienne Linda
Alison Linda
Amy Linda
Autumn Linda
Bethany Linda
Cassidy Linda
Daisy Linda
Daphne Linda
Elanor Linda
Grace Linda
Haley Linda
Harriet Linda
Iris Linda
Ivy Linda
Joy Linda
June Linda
Kelly Linda
Margot Linda
Mary Linda
Mercy Linda
Miriam Linda
Naomi Linda
Natalie Linda
Paige Linda
Rebecca Linda
Rose Linda
Rosemary Linda
Ruby Linda
Sadie Linda
Sophie Linda
Summer Linda
Valerie Linda

It does seem to pair well with names ending with an "ee" sound, like someone else mentioned. It is hard to have it in the mn slot though. I think it's the rhythm of it.

i think most of your names sound really nice with linda as a middle. i dont think its necessarily a huge priority that names "flow" like so many talk about here. if the name has meaning for you, its far more important. our first girls middle name will be colleen, after my late mother, and not all of our names sound ideal with it, but thats not the priority for me, you know?

i think the best sounding from your list with linda are: olivia, amelia and evelyn

best of luck.

It's hard to say because the last name could totally make it work or throw it off. I don't really think that the first/middle name flow is that important since you're already set on a middle name which is so special to you. I think I'd worry more about the first name/last name flowing more than the first name/middle name.

Out of your list, I think Vivian Linda sounds great : ) I think the three-syllable names like that which end in a consonant (or of course a silent vowel, such as in Isabelle) would work best with Linda as a middle name.
