I picked one of my favorite movies and here are the first (and where known, middle) names of the actors/actresses. Just in case people were curious, I also included their place of birth.

Amanda Laura (California)
Colin Andrew (England)
Kelly Kamalelehua (Hawaii)
Eileen June (England)

I was going to include character names, but this is pretty long as it is. Anyone think they can guess the movie? Just kidding!

St. John

In the novel I am currently reading, one of the semi-main characters has the name St. John.  Not Saint John, coz one character was noted for saying it wrong when she said that.  But St. John.  As a first name.  Well, I've never heard him called Mr. St. John (surname), just St. John (surname), so it might be a title.  But then again who in books is called Mr.??

Well anyway, how would one pronouce this?  Unless it is Saint John.  Or ...'Snt' as an abreviated form, which is how it's been in my head.

But..... WHAT?  Why does a character have this name, I have never heard of it!!

Any thoughts?

EDIT:  Seems its unanimously agreed that it's Sin-jin then, thanks all!

No, I am not reading Jayne Eyre, I am reading a modern novel by Wendy Holden called Filthy Rich.  (It's about both money and allotments.)  St. John is the character who is Chairman of the Parish Council, and President of the Allotments Association.  For ages and perhaps for obvious reasons I kept getting him mixed up with the vicar, but it turns out they are two separate blokes.  Which would make sense, if St. John is a name in it's own right!

Thanks everyone!

Some people in our church have 2 kids, and are expecting a third. Their kids are Dacey (girl) and Aiden. Baby number three, a boy, is destined to be named.... Brayden! Yep. A and B. Aiden and Brayden.*headdesk* *jawtable* *facepalm* I'm just wondering how long until they're joined by  Caiden and Dayden, Casey, Lacey and Macey. *sighs*

Another list from "Beyond Jennifer and Jason, Madison and Montana". My SO was looking at this list saying how cute it would be to have a daughter with a flower name, and of course he goes right to the list of 'unusual flower names'. The list is below. I have bolded the ones I like... which ones do you like?

When you hear the name Eden do you think of a boy or a girl? Yesterday I had a patient and I automatically assumed it was a boy because of the name, but it was a girl, I just want to hear what others think when they hear it.

We've all heard about Bronx Mowgli and Pilot Inspektor, but what about the celebrities that call their kids normal stuff?

I can think of

Ben Affleck/Jennifer Garner- Violet Anne
Naomi Watts/Liev Schriber- Samuel and Alexander
Jennifer lopez- Max and Emme

there are others, as well.

I've been watching the show Bones and some of the names are really unique, but cool. And others are just cool. Here are all of the ones I can think of, but I may have forgotten someone.

OK... It seems that the hubby and I have narrowed it down to two middle names for our favorite girl's name of Zoe. The two finalists are Andrea (ahn-DRAY-uh) and Sophia.
[Poll #1327158]

If you don't like either, but can think of another middle name with the same rhythm pattern, please suggest it! TIA!

These are a few Cornish girls names I've always liked.

Demelza (The heroine of Winston Graham's Poldark novels)
Ellery (A swan)
Kerensa/Kerenza (means "love" in Cornish)
Lowenna (Joyful) Lowdy can be used as a knick name.
Tegan (A pretty little thing)
Tamsin (Cornish version of Thomasina)

I personally adore Kerensa. I'm expecting in May and wanted to name our baby that if it was a girl but my husband hates it :(

I was almost named Demelza myself.

Interesting how we're such a small country (4 million) but we still manage to have similar top names to the rest of the world!

My favorite Dr. Seuss story as a kid was the one about the woman with 23 sons named Dave. She wishes that she had given them different names. Best. Names. Ever. )
