Is the name Raine/Rain a name in its own right, or is it short for Lorraine? OR, as my mother is convinced, is it a nn for Adrienne? [no, I don't understand either, but she's adamant]

ETA: The reason I ask is because I knew a woman named Lorraine who went by Raine, so I always thought of it as a shortened version. I like Raine, and Lorraine not so much - I guess the real question is, if I named my kid Raine, would I forever get the look of 'you could have put the full name on the birth certificate' as I might if I'd named a girl Maddie, or will people take it at face value?

If this has been posted before, I apologize in advance. So, I watch The Secret Life of the American Teenager (which is a bit like watching a train-wreck in slow motion) and one of the actresses names is Francia Raisa (she plays Adrian). Her sisters' names? Irlanda and Italia.

Yes. Their names are France, Ireland, and Italy.

...discuss.

Are there any celeb baby names that you love?

I ask this, because my friend just named her baby Harlow and until today, I didn't know it was the name of famous baby.

According to People Magazine, Jennifer Garner has given birth to baby girl #2. Big sister is Violet Anne.

Any guesses as to what they've named her?

The last post about celebrity baby names made me think of another question:

Does your opinion of a celebrity make you change how you feel about the names that they choose for their children?

For instance, Sunday Rose is not usually the kind of name that I would like, but I'm a huge fan of Nicole Kidman, and the name has really grown on me, and I think it's cute. But I wonder if some other celebrity had had a child with that name, would I have felt the same way?

Similarly, there are other celebrities that I dislike, and some names that I didn't really feel strongly about either way before, I now find myself disliking them.

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'connell had twin girls: Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose. WDYT?

Personally, I hate both names. First of all, Charlie is really cheesy to me because that's Jerry's brother's name. The Rose and Tulip thing is tacky IMO and I just haaaateeee Dolly. =/

I'm not advocating sizing someone up immediately simply on their name, but I notice that with some names I can't help but picture a certain type of person.  I'm wondering what people think of when they hear these names:
Cate
Lily
Rose
Thanks!
