Don't know why this name has suddenly occurred to me. I assume it's very popular and trendy, but I can't figure out if I'm right on that and I can't decide if it bothers me. I think I might quite like this name...

What do you guys think of Scott? And what sort of middle name would you pair it with?

Names from the newspaper where I work - mostly from birth announcements and obituaries.

Here we go... )

My father's name was Paul.

We would like to give the baby a middle name for my father.  If it is a boy, that's easy.  But what about a girl?  I'm not too into Paulette/Pauline/Paula... but, honestly, I haven't found any P names that I like for girls, except Priya, which I love, but since we aren't Indian, I would feel weird giving the baby that name.

Are there any P girl names that aren't awful?

I like classic names that are not super popular, although I'll admit that I do love some of the ones that are super popular right now (Isabella, Sophia, etc).  Generally I like traditional names that are... I don't know how to describe it, maybe pretty sounding?  Multi-syllables?  Names like Rebecca, Arianna, Joanna, Hannah, Molly...  I guess they all have soft sounds.  Anyway, any suggestions?

Thanks!

i'm trying to think of a good middle name for a girl. we already have a boys name picked out and we used to have a girls, madison elisabeth. but its become very popular recently so i decided against it. a few days ago i came up with maelynn. although, my boyfriend doesnt like it with 2 n's so now it will be just one so, maelyn. i really love the name mae but it just seemed incomplete so i went through names in my family and liked my middle name with it! i just need a good middle name for it. i had a couple suggestions of names from my family but my boyfriend didnt seem to like any of them. they were maelyn genevieve, maelyn adeline, maelyn kelly or maelyn elisabeth...i dont really like any of them either, they're just family names and i wanted to give her a middle name from my family but i really dont like how any of those go so whatever, i guess she wont have any names from my family! anyone have any suggestions for a middle name. i want something that flows...but doesnt rhyme. i want it to easily roll off your tongue and be a little unique!! <3

Has anyone here ever seen Bedknobs and Broomsticks? What do you think of the name Eglantine? It is English and means sweetbriar.

Edit: I have no plans on using it. Just found it interesting. :)

I met a girl in one of my classes yesterday, and she had an interesting name.

Olwyn.

I actually really really like it. It's not a name that I would use myself, and it's not even one that I would normally like (there aren't many O names that I like), but there's something about this name that I think is really cool. It suits the girl perfectly, too, and it sounds great with her last name.

I believe the traditional spelling is Olwen, which I also like, but this is one of the few examples where random Ys in place of other vowels doesn't actually bother me.

WDYT?

Wow.

A girl I went to HS with is naming her second child, a girl, Roxy. She also has a three year old son named Trent.

Roxy.

I hate it. The first thing I thought of was One Life to Live. It has a Roxy charactor who is a drunk loser. Or, a stripper.
